In Japan, there is the Mazdaspeed Familia that looks exactly like the US market MP3 only with gold/bronze rims.

It has a a beefy FS that makes 175 ps...Pretty sweet little car. I wouldn't doubt that the car in the picture was one of them before the after-market goodies were put on...

i didnt realize that the sport 20 had the same wing and bumpers and things as an mp3...
so basically its not limited, its just in the united states with badges on it and a "stereo"

They short change us on motors because of things like "emissions testing" and we often do not get any cars at all because of things like "front-end crash tests".

I forget the exact conversion, but its in 160 hp range I think...

And emissions is what keeps that hot motor out of our hands...

yes but all cars that are made for the USA are made with the california emmission standards.

and the front end crash test is a federal standard. that means all car in the USA must meet that standards.

it sux i know. what you should do is have straight pipes and remove aboth your cats and buy the spool turbo kit.

I'm just guessing, but that may be the case because a 1966 Chevy was made way before the strict California emissions came into force. Stuff like that is never retroactive (AFAIK), which exempts all cars made prior to these rules coming into effect.

yeah but live in Cali and NJ/NY and see why these tree hugging hippies are getting the laws changed.

NJ is soooooo poluted. the air quality is so horrible. when coming in on a plane into Newark, NJ you can see this thick layer of smog over NJ. it's nasty and it's bad.

note: i hate hippies and i wish some one would shoot them. i hate to say it but they do have a point here.
