MP3 ECU swap questions?

I keep seeing this mod mentioned but I can't seem to find a full write up on it? From what I understand it just has a better fuel and spark map. Is there a specific year I need to be looking for? How much is power really gained? does it matter what trans you have? does it effect your fuel economy? Pretty much anything you know bout this mod I would like to know.

Off topic anyone know where to get a 90 degree silicon intake tubing coupler?

the MP3 ecu is from the 2001 Protege MP3 model - 2001 being the only year the MP3 was available. the advantage to this ecu is the modified ignition map. makes the protege engine run a little smoother. the ecu will only work with a manual tranmission, so if you have an auto... too bad.
