motortrend tests the 09 wrx...

haha. Hp does not determine 1/4 times. With the wrx/sti the car is a synch to launch and hooks immediately, instant spool, and the sti comes with some nice rubber. So smoking down the track is easy as go.
Then why is it you can estimate WHP fairly accurately (within ~5%) knowing a 1/4 mile time and vehicle weight? This is actually a rhetorical question. Please do not answer as if I care about what your thoughts on this subject are.

right. so i guess now we dont need drivers anymore we can just predict everything with forumlas.

Speed at 1/4 mile point = 220 * (HP / Weight) ^.3138

Quarter Mile time = 6.9446 X (weight / HP)^.2841

0 to 60 time = .0078 * X^2.4849

(where X is the quarter mile time).

I hear the tranny is weak and no where near strong as the one in the STI. Few good hard 6k launches / mis shifts and bye bye tranny! If I'm gonna spend about 30k on a AWD sport compact it'll be a EVO X GSR (5-speed manual) - Get it tuned via VINSHU for $995.00 and have a car running 12.7@109ish and handling to match.

no you haven't...the car just hit the market...i want to see your proof of broken 09 trannies(braindead)

One thing to take into consideration is fuel efficiency. My old normally aspirated 01 Impreza RS used to get an avg of 23 mpg. My MS3 gets an average of 24 mpg and has twice the power.

Subaru’s are great cars. I loved my Impreza RS. But Subaru aren't known for being very fuel efficient cars and the AWD adds to this. You'll be lucky if you get a combined mileage of 20-22mpg. The 09 Wrx is rated at 18/25.

This is true...i wish my rex got better gas mileage...but you gotta pay to play..atleast the price of gas is coming down (spin)

want speed and perfomance with good mpg..get a bike.

the 09 trannies will break, they made a few improvements in the 08 but none in the 09.

it will happen

ohhh i am not saying it won't but it has yet to happen...plus alot of broken trans. are due to how it's launched...you have to must 100% slip the clutch on these cars or the trans is going to break. I bet we'll see alot of 09's 5 years from now that were beat on still with the stock trans...just like there are alot of 02-03 models that way now. I have well over 100 launches on mine and have yet to have any issues.......but i prob just jinxed myself.

on my last wrx i was shifting into second at like 2300 rpm and BOOM tranny broke.

granted i was making around 350hp
