damn man, cant beleave no one has replyed to this yet,

im in the same boat, except i will be starting my build very soon, and ill be starting to buy the parts that i need.

Listen Guys, i'm a little concerned on this entire topic.... Reason being is if you dont know exactly what you need to build your motor maybe you should not be taking on such a task all alone......... It's not the hardest thing in the world to do but in the long run a good machine shop would definately be the right place to get the job done...... Its alot more complicated then just slapping in the piston expecially if you want a well built motor.......... (poke)

i agree, i have many friends that know what they are doing,, i just want to know what all i need to buy part wise, and you are right a machine shop is the best way to go, wich i might end up doing, but i will try to do what ever i can myself to save labor costs, and for me this is going to be a long term project, the engine in my car is perfect for right now, its putting down 200whp at stock boost

Well listen unless you have friends that own a machine shop or have a machine shop in there garage, you should remove the engine and strip it down to only the block..... Meaning Block, pistons, rods, crank, thats it.... This would definately save on labor.... By the way, you do have performance shops with there own machine shops but this is not typical, so in order to get your motor done at a machine shop you would have to remove it yourself or have a shop remove it, hence performance shop.... Lets not get the two confused........ You definately need a head gasket, and gasket kit, some gaskets can be re-used.
1.Bearings
2.Head Bolts (if out of Spec)
3.Gaskets
4.Rods & Pistons (piston rings)
5.Timing Belt
6.Machine Shop*******For a well built motor*******
Hope this helps........ And of course all fluids & filters.....
Anything I'm Missing?????
Check out protege garage (mazda3online.com) they carry a complete rebuild kit all put together for you......

i got whole nother engine for my build, its sitting in the back of my bosses truck right now untill i can get a lift to get it out,, i bought a stand for it today. but didnt want to spend the money on the lift right now wich i might end up having to do.

one of my friends works for toyota in the service department, and the other is supermattyp, dont think i need to say anymore about him,,

im hoping to get the engine on the stand sometime this week and start taking her apart.
