I say NO to the video idea. Because you can do so much with video's that you done even needs pictures....

Pictures Only, 3 of them. Thats it.

Agreed...if you want an action shot, make it your exterior shot...

It would add a different effect. people would actually prepare for entering MOTM instead of just taking some quick last minute photos for entries. Why not have video, thats how you can really show off your car that cannot be seen in just a photo.

Nothing wrong with change... plus its only an option! not required.

A twin turbo 7, or some gold ass engine bay, is not required to win... but it puts some flare to the contest. Makes you go "Oh Sh!t!. That is bad a$$" That is what this comp is all about.

Video is only talk anyway, and talk to be only an option. Of course there would be limitations on time say 12 -15 sec long and as antoine stated, no street racing or derogatory footage.

I'm not opposed to it, but the majority of us do not have the means to take video. So I don't know how many will actually utilize it. It may take away from the even playing field of just having pictures.

I think it would be cool to add a fourth picture, it would change things up and ppl would be able to display a little more of their car if they are not able to in the three pictures. Like another angle of the interior or exterior they couldn't get all of in the one shot

Some of the cars I've seen (heck, most) in past MOTMs have so much more to show than the 3 pics can contain....video is a decent idea, but it's not so much the camera as the processing equipment that will render one video better than the other, leaving the car as the secondary element potentially.

I still like the idea of showing the 3 pics (keeps an element of consistency and the thread(s) uncluttered), but there could be an added link for either a work log or a VB gallery to really showcase the car's details. That way everyone is kinda happy - the owners have a way to showcase their cars beyond what the 3 pics can, but mazdas247 wins by keeping everything neat and consistent.

anyway, i will get off it. just playing devils advocate here. love the idea of the video still. just arguing the point and reminding that it is only optional. so real need for me to debate the topic.

Antoine made the notion of adding a 4th pic or vid to your submission and there has been alot of discussion about it in the entry thread. So the help keep that thread clean lets bring all the discussions to this thread.

I think its a good idea. oh and if you have a s*** load of money to dump into your car, picking up a 200 dollar video camera (HD) or even just a little 100 dollar camera that can shoot video shouldnt be a problem at all.

I still say HELL no! Why change something that works to something that not everyone can do? And then people will start you ing camera effects (if they are good) can make a "epic" video and win just because of editing quality's? NO I SAY! pictures are fair and even. it shows you just what you need to have. It should be 3 pictures and that is it. It keeps everyone on the same field. Even adding another picture I think is unfair. It should be the same for everyone just like how it is right now and like what it has been for a long time.

Just because he posted after you, you think that is unfair? I dont see your logic at all. Its a competition. Go in with your best and hope with your best! not just blame it on someone else because you didnt win. Theres MANY months when there is no "epic" type of cars, but then there are month with cars that make people go "OMFGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG" all in their pants.... But trying to blame someone else because there car MIGHT be better is not a fair or competitive thing to say.

If anything where to be changed i would say maybe a themed month here or there, like a motorsports month, 4 door month, 2 door month....... something along those lines.

Some people take their pictures for MOTM with high quality 1k+ cameras.

And how do you know the person with amazing video skills would win? my car is stock as **** and i have decent video skills and i know damn well i wouldnt win.

I dont have 1k+ camera's... I dont even have one I have a iphone i use for pics... Hahha. But i can find someone EASILY to take pictures for me... Go to any local tuner forum and there would be someone that will take pictures for you. And its never 100% about photo/video quality, sometimes you DONOT have the quality car to win.... because it is MAZDA OF THE MONTH, not just MAZDA THAT WORKS.

Lol, i wouldn't be either by car doesnt work.... hahah


But maybe having a compition once a year for a video contest would be nice.... Give the people time to set up and make a video that people would watch.

I think a video would be unfair for several reasons.

1. Some people don't have means or the skills to produce a video that would convince people to vote for them.

2. This gives the advantage to those that have video editing skills. BIG TIME!

3. The contest is called Mazda of the Month, as in a contest for the car, not our photography or video editing skills. People need to focus on the car. It's appearance, mods, and style. Winners shouldn't even be decided based on the images posted. If people think a video will help them show parts of the car that they think images can't, they need to rethink their approach. Words can do it.

Sorry im done with this... the video was only freakin optional! its not necessary! GEEZ! forget it! The logic was to see something cooler that pics. if you are ok with just pics then just post pics and look at pics, but if i had the means to make a video and show off i damn well might as well do it. just as if i had the means of doing a bad ass motor build or swap. thats all.

So sensitive people are to change!

Oh it was a compliment. Your bay is sweet! Flash and function. I've read and watched Mr. Altspace who is no horse. The point was that gained hellish style points... it wasnt required but you did it and made it look sweet!
