Most powerful exhaust?

I heard that racing beat exhaust works better in protege5 than any other exhausts. I've seen dyno graph for stock w/ racing beat, and it increased almost 5 hp.
However, I've seen an ad of motorsports, and it said that their test protege picked up 9hp. (I havent seen dyno graph yet.)
Which exhaust make most hp and tq?
Can you tell me if you guys experienced either of those exhaust?
Or any suggestions on other exhausts?

I'm under the impression that there is no exhaust for the protege family that will give you a dramatic increase. Instead it's a combination of intake, header and exhaust where you'll see the increase.

Is there a huge difference between universal muffler and catback exhaust?? I have a universal muffler for now and I'm going to install Injen CAI soon. Does it work just fine? or should I get the catback exhaust?

I have had the mazdaspeed and the HKS you get a couple HP with either of these.

How much is it? the HKS is $245.00 shipped, and the mazdaspeed is around $200.00 i would'nt pay to much more than that ..

Well JUST a muffler isn't going to do much for you (maybe a tiny bit) other than change the sound. Replacing the piping with mandrel bent, smooth piping will help exhaust flow. Typically you want 2.25" piping for NA, and 2.5-3.0" for Forced Induction our our cars.

People need to be more specific when they talk about "exhausts". The exhaust system is really the muffler AND all of the piping. The muffler is just one piece of the exhaust. :p

well what you need to do is get yoru piping run from yoru cat back to the universal muffler. Increase the pipe size to something similiar to the catback systems and you will have the exact same.

Only diff with cat back is, it comes with piping, so, all YOU need is piping. Any muffler shop would be more than willing to make the piping cat back for you in a larger size, just figure out what size you want.

Thanks for the information :D
I guess I have a custom made "catback" exhaust.
the muffler was welded with an extention pipe which connects to the downpipe.

Dyno tests have shown zero horsepower gains on turboed vehicles going any higher than 2.25 inches

Yeah, for a low boosted 5-6psi Protege (Flyin Miata/Protege posted this). If you were running say 8 or 9 psi and above you would definitely see gains by going up in size of exhaust piping.
