Moroso Oilpan

This is still far away, but is definately going to happen. I'll update the Probetalk thread more often than here. Moroso is going to give me a call on Monday again to work more on the development. So, when anything worth while occurs, I'll let you guys know.

Just talked to Moroso again. I'll be going up to them sometime next week. Then they'll get dimensions and see if there is any interferences that would need to be addressed. I'll keep you posted after my meeting.

This will be a great addition to our aftermarket support!! Good job son!!! ....and thanx for the heads-up!

I need someone's help. If anyone has a good picture of the Protege underside please email it to me at soulstylee@hotmail.com This is critical to whether or not the oilpans will be compatible from our 626/MX6/Probes and your Proteges. I really just need to see the underside of the front end. The control arms, exhaust routing, the pan itself. Thanks.

Geoff

Ok, just to keep you all updated. I dropped off my block today. Everything is copacetic. The finished product is going to be very nice. Extra capacity, turbo drain back, I'm very psyched.

i cant wait!

i dont think i'll be able to buy a new pan straight away (too many things to buy right now), but i assume they'll keep the designs on record?

Just a little update, I've started gathering oil pressure readings for Moroso. They need some more data so they can design the baffle. If anyone has any helpful information, that'll be great. I already see some areas that can be improved. Also, they will be using the stock oil pickup to keep costs down, also because there is nothing wrong with our pickups.

I will keep an eye on my Oil pressure gauge, but it is pretty steady. Should i look for drops in pressure while cornering hard?

Yes, the only drop I have noticed so far was when I cut my wheel hard left and broke the rear end loose. But, anything out of the norm just let me know. Thanks

Geoff

no strange oil readings from my guage. when cold idles around 70psi (i then keep it under 80psi). when warm idles 30psi, driving at 60kph 50psi, 100kph 60psi. when hot idles 20psi, same as warm for above idle. i use 5w30 oil

My readings are a little different, 55psi cold idle, 15psi warm idle, around 55psi while driving. My engine has 104,000 miles on it though. I did notice a very large pressure drop when I slid into a left hand turn. I think anyone who races their car will greatly benefit from a redesigned pan. Pressure drops are not the healthiest thing for your engine.

This thing is falling a little behind schedule, nonetheless it will be complete soon. I've gotta call back next week to see the status. Hopefully a couple more weeks at the most.

Geoff

WOW!

Sounds cool. Did you ever get a good undershot of the Protege front end?

There are some on Flyin' Protege's site while we did my install and their install for that matter.
