More than one Mazdaspeed per Cobb Tuner

Well maybe then for mazdas it's diff. but my buddy still has his stage 2 ap map on his subbie even though the unit is unmarried from the car and my other buddy bought it and has a protune.

you or your buddy are confused about the difference between a Cobb Pro Tune and an open source tune.

An open source tune is done without the accessport with software and a special cable that allows a laptop to work like an accessport and reflash the ECU. A (hopefully) experienced tuner can tune your car using special software that pretty much anyone can download, load it onto your car and you are done.

A Cobb Pro-Tune means that a tuner uses cobbs professional protune software to develop a cobb specific map that can only be loaded/unloaded onto a car with an Accessport.

Your friend probably got an open ECU tune which means he no longer needs the AP and would be free to sell it.

i don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but the maps for the ap are for 07-08.5.
i don't believe they've been tested for an 09 yet

actually, there's a slight difference between the 09 ECU and the 07/08/08.5 ECUs, so cobb still needs to update the AP firmware in order for 09s to load up properly. unfortunately, there is no ETA from cobb on when this will be done.
