More power from a gt28rs?

Since we are talking turbo's here. How efficient would it be to just upgrade our turbo to the GT28RS. I'm only looking to get a max of about 275 to 290 whp out of my car. Would it be as simple as swapping the two out and going on with every day business. Or would I need another manifold to help me. I know our manifold will work, but is this recommended..

Of course this is after: pistons/rods , and removal of the Unichip ( possibly ) for some other kind of engine management.

I would go with the stage I GT25 turbo. For less then cost of the GT28RS you can have your stock turbo reworked for the bigger wheel, ported exhaust housing, ported S pipe and ported exaust manifold. This set up is good for 328whp. You would not only hit the 290 mark that you what you will get there much faster.

Piston, rods and EMS we have idea's for that also.

In my opinion, get a t3/04 ballbearing or not, not only will it sound the nicest and be the most efficient, but you don't have to worry about blowing it if you want more boost. s***, it won't spool as fast as a smaller turbo but in 2nd or 3rd gear, the turbo won't slow down. Its not even that much more, maybe a couple hundred

he'd need a new manifold for the T3 flanged turbine of that turbo. thats why the turbos that were recommended, were recommended.

what are you saying, getting a new manifold is out of the question.

Why would you want a T3/t4 if you can make the same, if not more, hp. levels without having to buy a manifold or dealing with the lag associated with it.

I can let you know for sure in a few weeks. We are doing a 400whp Speed right now. Hoping to be around 400 hp at the wheels.

GT28RS/71 turbo
Ported stock exhaust manfiold
Ported stock intake.
MPI Stage III cylinder head.
Ion exhaust system.
MPI short block
MPI custom intercooler
MPI Tuner, with staged injectors in intake.
MPI 80mm MAF
MPI high output ignition system
24psi and C16 fuel
Some very good luck.

Not sure if we would hit a wall in air flow with the turbo or to much back pressure in the exhuast, But this is why we play the game. To find out for sure, no more guessing what will or will not work. Lets get some facts for once.
