Help! After installing a Mazda moonroof deflector, I get this low loud noise between 30 and 40 MPH. Anyone seen this? How can it be fixed? If I stick a hand (or even a finger!) out the sunroof, it goes away!

Just make sure it's not your middle finger...you might inadvertently piss some people off. ha ha

By the way, do you have any pictures of that? I've yet to see a 3 with a sunroof deflector.

I'll post one tomorrow--it's in need of a wash....and I'll be careful which finger I use!
Hope someone can help me out there!

here it is the day I got it.....

Might just be me but I don't see a moonroof deflector in that pic. and who know's why you'd be getting a funny noise?

That's the pic the day I got it. I'll take one with the newly-installed noisy deflector today.

The noise you hear...

...is the wind buffering off the deflector at low speeds. The faster you go the less buffering will occur (this is why you only hear it at low speeds). The only way to truely correct the problem is to scrap the deflector. Sorry to deliver the bad news. If you can live with it though it's not hurting anything but your ears.

Here is a picture of it. (Taken back in March)

OK, this is going to sound really stupid, but when you stick your hand/finger out the moonroof, are you touching the deflector with your finger/hand? It could be that the deflector may be in need of tightening...just a guess.

I don't have a moonroof but my girlfriend got me the VentVisors from VentShade and inside the cockpit the tend to produce a very noticeable wind noise.

BTW Sethlan where did you get the awsome Bugflector for your 3? I have a 5dr 3...

thanks

It is offered by all Canadian dealers that I know of. I had them put both on at the same time.

I've tightened the deflector as far as it will go. I'm going to try and attach two silicone cabinet bumpers to the top of the deflector today to see if it breaks up the noise.

no, no luck. It looksl like the deflector is actually vibrating and making the low noise. I'm bringing it to the dealer this week to have it checked out and to also see why my suspension is making a binding noise when I turn left.
