Moonroof & ABS w/side air bags

im considering these two options..

is ABS really worth it?? does it really help and makes a car safer??

and does the moonroof in the proteges have a tilt position??

As for the ABS, don't waste the money if you truly like to drive. I've had it before, and unless ice is a common problem where you live, it takes a lot away from being able to "play" with the car. It seemed to kick in at very inappropriate times for me, like when I wanted to throw it into a turn hard and hit the brakes late going in. (May have been crappy tires too, but it was a company car)
As for the Moonroof, I don't know about the tilt thing, but I really wish I had one. Someone on here got one off the floor that way, and I'm jealous. It's definitely a nice option, and would make your MP3 even more rare.

Personally I could care less about the ABS, ifyou practice racing braking enough you'll be able to do as good or better than ABS will stop you. On the other hand I really like the idea of side air bags for other peoples stupidity and the moonroof is really nice during summer and spring. I'd say it was worth it to get the package since you can't get them seperately.

badboy, YES the moonroof has a TILT position....you can either OPEN it, slide it back, OR it will tilt up at the rear only....

as for ABS....as it was said already....unless you have a problem with very slippery roadways.....I would pass. that is just my personal preferance.....

I got the moonroof....and passed on the ABS.....and what is it with requireing side airbags with ABS and viseversa....seemed like a rip off to me.

How did you manage to get the moonroof without the ABS. I've read and been told that you can only get all or nothing?

Moonroof doesn't require ABS, you can get it alone.

the only other option that is required to get ABS is side air bags....and that don't make sence either...but that is only in the states from what I have read......in Canada ABS is standard...and the side air bags are an option......

Yeah, I got the moonroof, and the ABS with the side air bags. I had to have the moonroof, since I was getting rid of my Miata (which I haven't sold yet!) I needed the open air feeling. As for the ABS, I hate it. It now takes me twice as long to stop as it did before I had the ABS. The only reason I got the ABS was the fact that I wanted the side airbags to repel the idiot drivers that i live around. They all drive big rusty hillbilly 4x4's with insane liftkits. They would probably killed me if they ever t-boned me. But then again the air bags would really help all that much anyways. I think that it is stupid to make it necessary to get either all or none. I would be much happier if I didn't the ABS.

well, just a small note.I was once 1 of those ppl that thought that would never happen to me... about the t-bone accident, lost my oldest son.....so I am 1 that would say....get side air.....last car did not....that might have saved him

ive been reading stuff about ABS and side airbags lately. I realized I really dont need the ABS because it doesnt snow and it hardly rains here in san diego. I also dont have a habit of panicking and slamming on my brakes. I have a habit of pressing it firmly and being ready to move to the next lane if i have to. I never before had panicked where i had my wheels lock up and skid.

I didn't really think much about the side air bags until the pass couple days. I was thinking the front standard airbags would be good enough. however I realize now that I should get all the safety and protection I could get after reading posts and other stuff.

As for the moonroof, it wasnt that important for me to get one but its nice to have.

So now I'm planing to get all these options. Thanks everyone for your input and im sorry to hear about your loss leezcrewof5......

That is the reason that I went with the P5 instead of the MP3. I wanted to have the sunroof and cruise control. Those weren't options, so I took the P5.

I wish our car had abs b/c yesterday we got an ice storm in Michigan and i HAD to go to work and these tires really suck in snow and ice and i almost rear ended a Audi S4 Avant.... it took me an hour and 15 min to go 5 miles... it sucked and i was paranoid that someone was gonna hit me.... but i also wish the mp3 had a sunroof.... but im really happy with my car and wouldnt change it if i had the chance to.... if you dont have ice problems in your area then you wont really need abs... if you know how to drive a car correctly that dosent have abs you can get it to perform better than a car with ABS... also i like the feeling that IM in control of my car...

Hey Paul, There is a place (mazda dealership) around us (I think more towards you) that puts in sunroofs (power w/ tilt) for 1095+tax w/ a lifetime warranty. I have the info if you need it.
I was thinking about it, but $1200 total is a lot of dough...maybe if I hit the lottery

if i had 1200$$ to blow i would put it toward a turbo or some performace mods. but if it would have an option i would have definatly bought it!!
