For those of you that do not know, I have not had my baby for the past month..We had a lil accident and she has been in the shop ever since..I feel bad about what I did to her, so ever since that day I have been stock piling parts, just waiting for the day for her to return!! Well she is coming back soon (thank the lord) and I just want to know if anyone has any tips for any mods that I am doing..

1. Kartboy Shifter and Bushings
2. Underbody neons
3. Painting Calipers
4. ColdAir intake

If any of you guys have performed any of these mods..drop me a reply! Just lemme know how it went and your personal experiences...Anything will be helpful!! I'm gonna do all of these mods(plus a few more that are easy) in one day, so please help me make Mod Day (creative title huh?) as smoooooth as possible!!! Thanks!

we have the shifter bushings install on our site.
someone was supposed to make one for the shifter but they seemed to flake on me :( i think in the how too section on this site there is a install for a B&M. its pretty much the same

as for the other stuff.. sorry cant help you

happy shifting
Tom

KzA,
Which CAI are you installing. if you are installing the INJEN...go to the Protege5Online.com site and in the tech section there is install instructions that are WAY better than the ones that come with it....not to mention tips and all to make it go smoothe...it worked for me..

the shifter install is really pretty straight forward....probably the hardest part is getting the console off....

just remember there are parts of your STOCK shifter to be reused....and take note of how they are installed on your STOCK shifter so you install them properly on the kartboy...the white pivot bushings for one....the oring, the snapring and the dust boot on the bottom......

take your time.....pay attention to how it comes apart and putting it back together will be a snap...

good luck

snap ring..

About the snap ring..I dont have a set of "snap ring pliers"..is this completely necessary?> I could go out and buy them..but I really don't feel like buying a tool that I'll use once if I can remove the snap ring another way...

Well i have the Injen CAI and is great. doesn't give much WHP but sounds great and takes about 40 min to install your self. as for the underbody neons. I would say not to do them b/c they break very easily. My boy had them on his 300ZX and every time he hit a bump or something at about 50-60mph the neons would break and he would have to have them repleaced. just keep that in mind. also i say you should put in a TV and PS2.

joe, its really up to you.....BUT.....personally I would get them...it makes the job soooooooooooo much easier...yes you can try to use some small flat tipped screwdrivers and YES its possible....you can get a cheep set of snapring pliers at somewhere like autozone for $5-$8....I got mine at a O'Reilies and there were four different sizes in the set...and it was only $8. I am sure that one day I will use them again...seeing as I do mechanic work.....but....that is me.

haha tru

lol yea guess ill have to buy them...I really want the job to go right and the install to go quick....I'll bribe my dad into buyin me a set of them...

As far as the neons..form what I understand there is a metal lip under the mp3 that I could tuck them under...IIn ythis case, nothing should break them unless it gets like coompletely under my car..One things I was wonderin is where is the best place for me to run the wires from the outside of the car to the inside?

a tip for running wires from the outside to the inside.....IF you are going to drill a hole to run them through....do the following...

1. go to somewhere like Radio Shack and spend a dollar or two and buy some rubber grommets that you put in holes to protect wires going through.

2. drill the appropriate hole for the grommet you are going to use.

3. get some paint and paint the edge of the hole you just drilled and allow it to completely dry.

4. install the grommet and run your wires.

5. get some 100% silicone sealant and seal the grommet where the wires go through it....

damn nuke...you re so helpful !! thanks so much for all your input...That grommet was is probably the best way to go..I was thinkin of doing it that way. lolI'm so pumped..half the parts are sitting in my fgarage just waitin...I'm goin to my friends tommorow to hepl him paint thecalipers on his GTI...so that should giveme some experience in that area...

I'll be sure to post an assload of pictures for Mod Day...here is it's backround...My homecoming is the 26th..I get my car the 25th...I'm waking up at 7 on the morning of the 26th and doing ALL of this s*** to my car in one day!! Then of course a good wash and wax..I have to reclaim my throne of hottest car at school yet again!

you can hide them all you want from things hitting it. But if you hit a bif bump there are going to shake and break. I'm just telling you from experience. also i feel neons are over done. every one has them. what i think you should do is a custom grill for your self. i did it and it looks great!! PM if you have questions how to do it.

hmm

listen i dont wanna burst your bubble ha, but seriously, i would def coinsider using ur money on something besides the under neons, that was like the first thing i did and i regret it. ive gotten 3 tickets already and now i pretty much never turn them on anymore. so if u didnt buy them already i would def consider maybe exhaust or something else. believe me, its cool at first,m but then its gets old and maybe expensive. its a $52 ticket for me and ive already gotten 3 of em
