Moaning Sound

I've had my MS3 for about a week and just today I started hearing a low, but loud moaning sound coming from somewhere underneath my car whenever I come to a stop, anywhere from 0-10mph. It tends to do it more with a slight wheel turn and going slightly downhill. It doesn't do it much when accelerating from a stop nor at speeds greater than 10mph. It seems to be getting worse though.

Any ideas as to what it could be?

Are you using your brakes at the time? how much are you pushing on them??

I know when i first got the car, my brakes made a sound especially when they were only pressed in slightly. From what I understand, that is a normal sound created when your brakes are just breaking in. (alot of break sounds in their) haha.

when you slow down like that what gear are you in, its mostlikely the syncros in the tranny you are hearing.. kinda sounds like a whine( like a cop in the distance with sirens on)??

I've asked a friend who is a mechanic and says it's normal. I have a 2008.5 MS3 with 1k+ miles and the groaning stopped after 700 miles.

My friend said "semi metallic pad making contact with an extremely hot metal brake rotor.... its normal"

I have this exact sound! Its driving me crazy and I have already brought my car in for warranty work on loose bolts on my rear suspension. At the same time, I had them check the "windshield cowl" noise but they couldn't fix it right away and wanted it for another day.. I said I would bring it back later.

I hope it does go away but I have a 'lil over 4k miles now and it seems to be getting louder..

yea, mine took a long time too. its brakes so they wear differently depending on the user.

mine didn't stop till the first oil change. My dealership told me it was warped rotors, then they said they had no idea. then they went back to the warped rotors thing. I said **** it and looked it up online.

As for using the brakes, the sound occurs whether or not the brakes are used. Most of the time I've had the sound WITHOUT any pressure applied to either the brakes or clutch. It happens very rarely when accelerating but happens more frequently when coming to a stop or taking a turn while decelerating, say for example, into a garage. It sounds like a moan from a whale.

my guess is the brakes then. mine did the same exact s***. if you use the brakes (slightly or heavily?) does it go away?
