Ontario? Look at the license plates, but don't be fooled like me ;). This was just borrowed for "testing" by Mitsubishi but they have some car model expansion plans up-north it seems. Only Mexico offers it in NA as far as I know.

It is like once I was in Toronto and saw a Ford SUV that I had only seen in Mexico (Ford EcoSport) and I was about to say: good that Canada also offers it... until I saw the license plate, from Mexico! It was a crazy family on vacation touring Cross-Countr(ies) from down south :D

Mitsubishi Canada is currently exploring the possibility to expand its product lineup by bringing over new models. We were allowed to borrow the Grandis for a few days worth of road testing. This minivan is sold all over the world except in North America. Yet, considering its 7-passenger capacity, it could easily answer the needs of young active families. Actually, given its size and shape, the Grandis could probably be marketed as a crossover-type vehicle.

The Grandis is similar in size to the Mazda5, but does not offer sliding doors.

Aerodynamic styling
Smaller than the Dodge Caravan, this minivan is positioned between the old 2006-2007 Mazda MPV and its replacement, the Mazda5. Compared to the latter, it's 16-cm longer and 4-cm wider. The Grandis boasts an extended front end and a sloping beltline that emphasizes the overall sleekness of the vehicle. Vertically-stretched taillights complete this functional design. As far as I'm concerned, the package appears modern and well executed. Build quality is pretty good, too.

Seriously, What is So wrong with sliding doors!? Maybe Americans are really that fickle. I mean, yeah the 5 has the door track, but the lined up door handles give that vintage Lincoln suicide door vibe...

interior space looks "bigger" than M5

Yup, "Smaller than the Dodge Caravan, this minivan is positioned between the old 2006-2007 Mazda MPV and its replacement, the Mazda5. Compared to the latter, it's 16-cm longer and 4-cm wider"

Nothing else but the Minivan/Van stigma added to any car that sports them if you ask. They are great, problem is: all soccer moms and freight/commercial vans have them so this just burned/satirized the nice idea/concept... and somebody somewhere in the forums mentioned that if the sliding doors were opening Lamborghini style, the car would like a cricket ready to kick butt (or something like that, LOL)

Now that I see the grille and tails, it looks like a bloated Lancer Wagon... Imagine an EVO version of that thing? Yummm

my next car has to be able to take my bicycle standing up. i was hoping the 5 would, and was bummed out when i found it couldn't. my Mitsu expo took a whole bike, front wheel in place, standing up. that was neat.

Isn't that Honda pic one of those clown bikes though? Or maybe everything is just that small in Japan!

But to keep on topic, see pic attached (thumbnail). You are right, there is space for kids' bicycles (and very tight). For adult bicycles, aftermarket racks (roof or back)

I like the Honda. The Mitsu is (puke)

Either way, yeah, hinged doors... so why pick this over your typical wagon?

Well in the US at least the Station Wagon has suffered a reputation worse than even the minivan... Seriously, these "crossovers" are really just tall station wagons any more. Slap on some 14" wheels with 80 series tire and hubcaps, add some wood paneling and I feel another National Lampoon Vacation movie coming on...

I disagree. Subaru deserves the most credit with the Outback and WRX wagons, but there are some eff'in hot Audi and Beemer wagons too. The days of wood-grain are gone.

Yet minivan's immediately get the soccer-mom stigma to this day. JMO.

I friggen love sliding doors. I wish every car had them for every door. Even the front. Nobody would door ding anyone haha.

FWIW I also like weird boxes, wagons, and mini-vans.

Here's a clue with a few pics of cars I own (or have owned...no I don't have all of them still)

my goofyness forging estuaries...
