Missing fog light indication

I posted something similar before but the answers went way off topic

When I turn on the fog lights in the CX-5, I noticed there is no indication or sign that I have it turned on. I'm 99% sure there is suppose to a little green fog light symbol illuminated in the dash in the RPM cluster as seen in Euro and Asian videos of the CX-5.

It will indicate my main headlights are on but nothing for the fog light.

It will be really disappointing if Mazda decided to cheap on something like that...as they did with not lighting up the window and door lock switches for the North American market.

Mine only has a headlight indicator, no fog indicator. I always leave it in the on position anyways. It'll only come on when the headlights are on so I know when it's on.

Why do you leave them on?

I don't like looking like a moron with my fogs on when the road is dry or the weather is nice
I only use them when roads are wet, rain, snow or actual fog lol

I just noticed that there is no indicator on mine either. Weird. But I don't use them anyway. I don't know why people have them on all the time, its really dumb looking when I see someone with one burnt out. Lol. 3 lights. Moron comes to mind. Lol. They are a useless light. Why intetinally blind someone coming at u is beyond me. Lol.

Would be nice if there was an indicator for sure, I would only use them when it is foggy out. No point in having them on all the time, but when it is foggy I most certainly want them.

Yea...turns out our neighbours down south also got cheaped out on
Sucks the NA market always get a bit more "stripped down" compared to the EU and Asian models. At least give us rear fogs!

Maybe we're just used to it out here in Vancouver since it rains most of the time. I've never had any issues with someone's fog lights blinding me at all (except the ones that are riced out).

Conforming fog lights don't really "blind" oncoming drivers in the same way that high beams or non-conforming headlights can but they do add a considerable amount of glare, especially if the pavement is wet. Even conforming headlights on low beam cause some glare and the glare from fogs is additive to the usual glare. What doesn't bother someone with young, healthy eyes can be quite distracting for an older driver or someone who has had the Lasik procedure done (laser eye surgery).

I keep my fog lights off unless I need them to see better when it's actually foggy. Fog lights do not help visibility in any significant manner when travelling over 30 mph because they do not throw light far enough down the road to be of any benefit. They actually make your night vision worse because the additional foreground light causes pupils to be more constricted. In the areas that I drive at night about 15% of all drivers leave their fog lights on when there is no fog and this is like waving a flag saying they are either driving newbies or complete idiots. But it is unreasonable to expect that 100% of all drivers will ever be 100% competent.

Well said, Mike. That would have taken an hour to type out on my tablet. Lol.

RMac, is it true? Lots of rain and almost no snow except for mountains. That must be nice. Ricers and pick up trucks IMO lol.

I hope to do a nice country drive to BC one day. I speak to a lot of truck drivers who do this all the time. They say once you get past the flat province its gorgeous.

It is true but when we do get a nice day, the Vancouver skyline is absolutely gorgeous. Hope you get a chance come down one day (in the summertime ) to check it out.
