Installed the cp-e engine mount and still sometimes miss 2nd gear when shifting fast at high revs. How can it be fixed???

My first to 2nd is kinda weird as well And I dont really race my car at all. Or shift at high rpm really. But I have noticed when I did try once or twice that its hard to shift it between those gears.

Not funny, really. Can this issue be because of the not properly disengaging clutch?
BTW, what is stiffer - the cp-e engine mount, or the SU 62 durometer mount?

it really is funny.

the stiffest one is the 88duro AWR motor mount. im sure you could get some 90+ inserts put in somewhere, but if you want that stiff. just fab up some solid ones.

but i believe the cpe and su ones are about the same.

Never had a problem with any other stick.. Easiest car I have had to shift at high rpms was either my GSR or my FC turbo rx7

Understand. I had to modify my old fashioned "just shove it in" type shifting technique for the Speed6. It doesn't like it at all. The cable shifter is VERY good for a cable shifter, but they are known for relatively poor shifting. You must be firm and deliberate in motion along the right plane and not pulling the shifter to one side or the other for the 1-2 shift. I've had a few issues getting the 2-3 shift done in < 1/10 sec as you must change planes through the neutral gate. Like I said, driver mod required to get it "right".

IMO, just practice till you hit the sweet spot...

1-2 used to hate me untill i slowed it down just a little, with the ssp and stage 2 twm kit it is so short the tranny seems like it needed time to catch up.

The fast shifting to 2nd at high revs leaves much to be desired. Believe me, I've had a fabulous 1993 Lancia Delta Integrale with much more user-friendly shifting. I got used to shifting gears on every previous car easily, but this MS6 is an exception for its unpredictable engine jerking under the hood. Tried to solve the issue by installing the cp-e mount, which improved it but not enough. The point is that I got the car with the 8k miles on it and the previous owner had the new clutch installed under warranty terms, but it feels for me like it doesn't disengage properly while shifting at high revs. That is why I am looking for an advice of you, guys.
p.s. I have a new ACT clutch kit and Turbinetech rear diff nount in the trunk. Should the installation of these mods improve the shifting? Theoretically, it should not. Any experience of yours with these mods?

Yep, we gotta adapt to the car on this one...

Hmmm, you may indeed have a "worse" problem than normal.... Your clutch hose may be weal and expanding when you press in the clutch as well. You can replace it with SS hose to improve that area...

The TT rear diff mount in not the primary fix required. I recommend the TT front engine mount along with the SU or CPE upper diff mount that will indeed help stabilize the engine and improve everything from shifting to overall handling.

what is the SS hose? is it something like TechnaFit clutch line?

Does the TT front mount increase the vibrations? the cp-e mount make quite a lot of them on idle especially when the a/c is on.

thanx for replies!

Yep. Technafit is just the brand. Goodridge and several others make them as well.

Yeah there will be a slight increase in vibs at idle. There is ALWAYS a tradeoff with mods. I feel the extra vibs are a small price to pay for the improved performance and longevity of the drivetrain.

Thanks for the comments, FORZDA 1!
BTW can you guys tell, which short shifter/shifter plate is more preferable, and with more adjustment properties? Does it hurt the tranny in any way? I am thinking if trying one and isntalling the solid bushings.

go with a short shift plate, link here, it is by far the best bang for the buck.

Then you can go with a twm short shifter stage 1 or two. The stage two short shifter does nothing to change linkage positions but it drops the knob in height which reduces the "feel" really, everything is moving just as far but since the knob is closer to the pivot point it creates a shorter throw.

the bushings i really didnt notice as much, but there is far less play now when in gear.
