minor mods for auto P5??

just wonderin if anyone can recccomend some easy mods for my p5? its an '03 automatic, I bought the AT cuz i originally intended it to be jus a daily beater( 50 mile round trip to work an back) since i got such a killer deal. But now afterr a year of driving it kinda grown on me an wouild like to get a lil more go from it..the auto is ok for highway an cruisng town with a drink in me hands but totally limp when it comes to getin somewhere in a hurry, noticibly more since i work right on a major highway so I constantly have to pull out into 60mph traffic full of retirees an loaded logtrucks! and waranty doenst really bother me much since I do lotsa body work for the local dealer(i work next door) an on top o that my dads the service manager there.......
appreciate any help or advice
 
i have an auto sedan....i have an injen cai, just got on my mp3 axle back, and getting my header installed sometime....

That's not the automatic, it's lack of horsepower. I autox with my auto sedan and always win my class (H stock) by several seconds, and many much faster cars have runs slower than mine. But in a straight line race, well..... Auto has some inherent lag and energy waste at shift points but once it's hooked up it's basically the same as a clutch. I agree, you should look at getting a CAI and a good cat back exhaust and header. Better intake and exhaust on our engine is the biggest gain you can get without going into serious horsepower mods ($).
 
I forgot to mention i alreay aded a K&N filter( dropin) and it helped mostly after up to cruising speed( high gear, 45mph up) , i sem to have mor power without the trans downshifting as easily or soon and RPMs on the highway sem to be lower by a few, uses less as on highway trips too. It revs quicker from stop thr first but really lags once in second then picks up again in third, so I figure just a slight bump in HP wil get me over that hopefully! (burnout)
