Milwaukee Area Proteges....Unite!!

Oh yeah. Registering online is going to make mine and lot of other peoples job's a lot easier on Sunday.

To: Erik

If I were to get 15 x6.5 inch wheels with r compounds would I be in stock modified?

If I got just 15 x 6.5 inch wheels with street tires would I stay in stock?

Thanks

What size are the stock wheels and what have you all done to your car? You're given a .5" width for free before any points are given for wheels. R-Compounds are 3 points no matter what size wheels they are on. So you can get points for upping the wheel size and more for using R-compounds. Unfortunately you can't get points back for using a smaller wheel size. This late in the year I wouldn't buy any R-compounds. They tend to have a very short shelf life. This is all for Midwest Council rules not SCCA. Do you mean Stock Modified in the SCCA? -Erik

So who's all going on Sunday. Smithers, West, Ehutch. Girth you going? Be cool if someone brought a camera with. There's another orange MSP that usually runs with the Madison club. I'm not sure if he's going. -Erik

I am getting a good deal on some 15" Konigs that come with some R compounds but they are almost completely worn out.

So I am thinking that I will get one event out of the tires then I will buy some Azenis.

I have a CAI, gutted cat (dont tell), short shifter, removed resonator, axel back exhaust. The wheels that I have now are 16 x 6.5. The Konigs are 15 x 6.5 (I believe).

I wont have the new wheels untill (hopfully) late next week.

What class would I be in for SCCA, Madison, Appleton?

And yes I am going this Sunday.
I videotaped my last run last sunday, but no one will let me host it.

Ill try to bring my cammera on Sunday. (If I remember)

Thanks

Hey Smithers. If you run the R-compounds you're in EP for Madison rules. You're pretty much in EP anyways with your mods. For SCCA, if you run street tires I think you'd be in STS. If you don't run in STS then I think you're in one of the SP classes. I'm not sure which one. Probably FSP. http://www.moutons.org/sccasolo/ here's a pretty good link to some SCCA rules and classing. The actual SCCA rule book is friggin huge. The Fox Valley Club in Appleton run the same SCCA rules as Milwaukee but without the street tire index classes. They still run STS and STX. -Erik

Oh yeah I won't be at the Fox Valley autocross in Appleton. I'm working for a SCCA Pro Rally team at the Lake Superior Rally that weekend. Somehow I got suckered into it. -Erik

I'm way behind.....

Shoot, lots of replies here already........

I'm not sure but I don't think I'm going to the auto-x tomorrow. I really want to go now though since there'll be a few more proteges from the area there!

Hey Smithers, so you're running a vid camera in your car?! I though I saw a metal bar between the seats in your ride that would hold a camera -- that's awesome. I've always wanted to do that with mine too. Did you just make your own custom camera mount or was it purchased somewhere? I'd like to get one myself. Oh, and as far as the video, I will host it if you'd like (I'd like to see it too). Email me the file(s) to the_boars_nest@jdhogg.com. I'll post it up and give everyone the link here. If you can't email that big of file, let me know and I can set up an FTP account for you.

Dammit, now I really want to go tomorow...............RRRRrr. Emode, how about you? You going? What about that other guy who had the Titanium speed last Sunday? Anybody know about him? Oh, and Smithers, you thinking of selling your stock P5 rims or your 16" Enkeis? I may be interested and could pick them up at an auto-x or something.

To: Girth

No I will not be selling either set of wheels. I use my stock wheels for the winter, my Enkeis will be for everyday use, and the 15inch wheels will be for autocross only.

The video camera mount was made by me. Its not as good looking as I wanted it to be, but it works.

About hosting the video. I cant send it to anyone because it wont let me send it through my email cause its too big. I'll work on getting the video on the internet.

West is the guy with the titianum speed that was there last week.

Hey Smithers, I'd really like to make up my own camera mount too. Any advice you can give or should I just start cutting stuff up? What is your's mounted too -- it appears it might just be a brace between the head rests of the 2 front seats......?

As far as the video, if you want you can ftp it to me (no size restriction then). If you want to ftp it, you can do the following:

1. from DOS enter "ftp jdhogg.com" and hit enter.
2. For a username, enter "mazda@jdhogg.com" and hit enter.
3. For a password, enter "mazda" and hit enter.
4. Then just FTP me the file (ftp filename). Simple as that.

I didn't realize that was West's Titanium speed. For some reason I didn't realize he had a titanium one. That's sweet cuz I want to check out his mods.

Girth

Are you going tommorow (sunday)?

If you are you can take a look at the camera mount when we get a chance.

For sending the file it lets me get to step 3 then when I enter the filename (autocross) it wont do anything.

Do I need the letters ftp?
Do I need the ( ) around the words?

Hope you can go tommorow.

Yeah Smithers, for that last step you need the letters "ftp" --- so the last step should be:

ftp filename

Give it a few tries -- you can't break it by trying. I'm 99% sure I'm not going tomorrow because I'm having a small party for the Wisconsin football game right now and probably won't get to bed early enough to get there. I'm tempted to just show up later in the day though around noon. Who knows - depends what I feel like doing in the morning. Regardless, the next time we meet up I want to check out that camera mount.

EDIT - DOH! I was telling you the wrong command smithers!! Lol, for the 3rd command you should enter:
"put filename"
NOT "ftp filename". My brain is dead apparently. So use "put" -- that "puts" it on my server.

Does the Madison area post the results like the regular Milwaukee SCCA? I can't find any results posted.......

Results. www.madisonautocross.com under "schedule and results". -Erik

Wow, nice times Ehutch. Almost first in your class. I take it that the other protege in your class was the orange MSP you mentioned earlier? It's odd that the Focus SVTs don't run in the same class as the MSP. I see Smithers' 1 valid run was pretty good too considering it was his first run of the day. Nice job by everyone.

Oh, and how the hell does that chick in the Paseo always gets such good times? I see she got a 63 on Sunday and she had good times the Sunday before that when I went.

Yup the orange one is the one I mentioned earlier from Madison. At the beginning of the year the MSP wasn't classed by Midwest Council yet. I should be running in the class below the one I was in all year. I knew it was gonna be that way but its more fun with competition in the higher class. I have to work harder. Stacy in the Paseo goes to a lot of events. It wasn't a power course and her Tercel is really light and has Falkens. Autocross is definintely something you get better at the more you do. But that last time of hers does look a little funny being 10 seconds faster than the ones before. Thats the same time as the yellow S2000. Must be a timing error. She still would have taken first though. The Milwaukee club has a lot of very good driver's. I think 3 of them took 1st in their class at Nationals. A bunch more placed high in their respective classes. -Erik
