Sounds like a plan. That means I have to wake up earily. Oh well fun only comes at a price. I should be interesting to watch being my first autocross event.

Do I have to take out my floor mats? Should I bring an air tank? Does it cost anything for spectators? What if they want to ride along?

How many people show up to these events? How many runs does one get?

Thanks

Sorry it took so long Smithers; long night. Probably won't be on tomorrow either.

Anyway, yup you can leave your floormats in. You can leave EVERYTHING just like you have it for every day driving. You don't need an air tank because 'typically' there is one already there for everyone to use for free. For spectators it is free. You CAN have at least 1 passenger if you want but they also have to wear a helmet. The number of people that show up really depends on the weather and time of year; earlier in the year there are fewer people - and if it's raining there are usually 50% less people. The average attendance on a sunny day is probably 75 people, which is actually quite a few. I've seen it as high as 90 on some occasions. The number of runs you get also depends on how many people show up -- you'll always get a minimum of 2 runs and you could get as many as 8 runs if time permits. It's really hard to say actually.

It really is super fun. You get to test the handling limits of your car without the worry of cops. Plus most of the course setups allow you to just put it into 2nd gear for the entire run -- no shifting needed.

Darn! I love heal toe down shifting.

Anyway... I should be comming down there. Probablly leave here at 6:30 or get there about 8:30 (I think).

Hopefully it wont rain.

To answer Dosle's question. No there are not other people on the course.

See you there.:)

Ugh! Sorry guys, because of the DAMN STUPID rain I am NOT going! I don't mind racing in the rain but standing in the rain isn't all that fun. Although there should be a lot fewer people there today. Let us know how it goes Smithers! I was going to go regardless but my brother didn't feel like going in the rain either so we said screw it.

The next autocross is in 2 weeks at Miller Park. I (once again) plan on going to that one.

i went from about 10 and just got back. Pretty cool, but i didnt know where to go and didnt see proteges so i just hung on the road and watched

Hey Smithers did you end going on Sunday? Is your name Bryan Smith? I looked through the results and that was the only red P5 that I noticed. If that was you, you did pretty good for it being your first time AND in the rain -- you finished 86th out of 142 (!) people! I can't BELIEVE that there were that many people in the rain!! Total of 6 runs for everybody though so that was pretty good.

I only noticed 1 Mazdaspeed Protege in the list - I wonder if he's on here?

Here are the results if anyone is interested.

Ya thats me! About the rain, it rained HARD for my first run then it pretty much stopped for the rest of the day.

My first run I ran a 63.xxx but that had a lot to do with the rain/not being able to see/never Auto Xing before.

2nd run = 59.xxx
3rd run = 55.xxx
4th run = 53.xxx
5th run = 53.xxx

Last Run I ran a 50.xxx

I am happy concidering it was my first time along with stock tires.

I am going again on October 5th rain or shine.

The Mazdaspeed owners name was Eric (I believe). He visits the board. His friend and him both drove the MSP.

Thats all for now.

there was another msp there
did you guys go later in the day
i saw all the earlier cars like that loud yellow s2k and that white sti.
they were ddoing like 42 seconds....crazy

nice job on the times, i think i want to try next time but will i be a some crazy class from my mods
??

Yeah Emode, you'd most likely be in a different class with your MBC and exhaust. Even just installing new seats will put you in a different class -- which sucks because putting on non-stock tires WON'T put you in a different class even though tires obviously have a lot more impact on your times than seats.

I think there's another auto-x on Sept 28th (2 weeks).....not positive though. I'll have to check the websites.

Hi all. I'm the Erik that was at Miller Park on the 14th. My MSP is completely stock. I think my best run of the day was 46.1 on my last run. I plan on being at the next SCCA autocross at Miller Park on Oct 5th. I just had the ECU reflashed yesterday and wow it is better.

Hey Erik, good to see another auto-xer on. There's another auto-x this sunday (Sept 28) as well as Oct 5th. I'm not sure if I'll be going to the one this Sunday because of the weather. I do want to make it to at least 1 more race this year yet though. So we'll see. I'm totally stock right now as well -- will remain that way until next spring.

The Import Wars link Garnet looks cool but it's too expensive for only a couple of runs. My brother and I were going to go there on just a "regular" week day or weekend where you basically get "unlimited" runs for $30.

Really!

Where is it being held, Miller Park?

Is it a SCCA event?

SWEET!!! I might have new plans for Sunday now! :D
