Milwaukee Area Proteges....Unite!!

im in Stevens point right now, for the weekend, but if this is gonna be at miller park again tommorow i might leave a little early and try to be there. also, if you are not racing, are you allowed to park up on the lot with the cars? or do you have to park on the street. I didnt know last time so i just sat in the street and watched

I believe that you can park up on the lot. You would just have to stay near the curb (street side).

I thought that I saw you leaving last time. Did you get to see me run?

The forecast for Milwaukee on Sunday is sopost to be windy.
(No rain)

Hey Erik, good to see another auto-xer on. There's another auto-x this sunday (Sept 28) as well as Oct 5th. I'm not sure if I'll be going to the one this Sunday because of the weather. I do want to make it to at least 1 more race this year yet though. So we'll see. I'm totally stock right now as well -- will remain that way until next spring.

The Import Wars link Garnet looks cool but it's too expensive for only a couple of runs. My brother and I were going to go there on just a "regular" week day or weekend where you basically get "unlimited" runs for $30.

Yea, I just went to WIR. Unlimited runs for $20! I'm still gonna go. It's only money. :D

Damn garnett! Unlimited runs for just $20, that is awesome! I'm glad I don't live near there or I'd be going much more often lol!

Hey, really sorry I didn't get on here to post about the auto-x this sunday (tomorrow) earlier when you guys were asking questions ... it's been a busy weekend. Unfortunatly it looks like I won't be going tomorrow.

But anyway, no I don't 'think' it's an SCCA event but that doesn't really matter unless you're racing competitively. Also, I believe you can park in the lot even if you're not going to race. I'd give it a shot - the worst that could happen is they'd tell you to park somewhere else.:D

The nice thing about these non-SCCA events is that there 'should' be fewer people there, so you could get more runs. Also, no Packer game tomorrow to get in the way!

Here's the link for tomorrow's race:

Sorry to post after the autocross on the 28th. WAI hosted the one on the 28th. Not an SCCA affiliate but its run by the Padbergs who also help run the Milwaukee SCCA events. A lot of the same people help out and race. I was at BlackhawkFarms Raceway with the MSP on Saturday for a Midwest Council high speed autocross. Basically a standing start timed one lap on a 2 mile road course. With the reflashed ECU and more experience driving the MSP I dropped 2.5 seconds off my time earlier in the year. Sunday I was at Byron Dragway. My car is completely stock but I did run a 15.19 at 91.40mph. A lot of 15.3s though. -Erik

I paid $35 at Great Lkes Dragway. I only ran twice but could've ran at least three more times! I think the cold weather scared a lot of people away. It was awesome! There were some bad-ass cars there. I only saw one Protege though. It was a Spicey Orange Speed with a carbon fiber hood, eyelids and downforcers. I didn't know who's it was but it was pretty nice. My best run was a 14.644 @ 96.45. Next year I'll be in the 13's.:)

I paid $25 and got 20 runs at Byron. I took my old S2000 to Byron late last year and got 31 runs in one day. That was awesome. -Erik

I'll be at Miller Park tomorrow for the SCCA event. I'm taking my EVO instead of my MSP. Next Sunday on the 12th I'll be racing the MSP at Miller Park. -Erik

that was fun, it was unfortunate that i was not able to run
you guys have nice cars, we should really think about setting up some kind of meet while its still warm enough
get a bunch of people from around the whole area and see if theres any interest
maybe even start a new thread, but it sucks cause i really dont think many people see the threads in this and the meets forum...

Autocross was a blast!

I ran a 69.7xx for my last run. 69 was my goal for the day and I did it. Can someone post the results when they come out.

We really should set up a meet before it gets cold.
Miller Park has another autocross event next Sunday, whos going?

I know EHutch (Erik) is going, along with me. Anyone else?

It was nice meeting all you guys.

Im off to bed.

that sucks, next week ill be in stevens point getting my car fixed

but whats cool is that next week ill be in point getting my car fixed:D

Yup, it was damn fun. Long day though. I'll try posting the results tomorrow if I remember and have time. My last (and only decent) run was also a 69.x (not sure exact decimal). Pretty much Smithers and his P5 thoroughly spanked me and my MSP, LOL! My back end just wouldn't stick for s*** - I think I was braking too late on most of the turns. Lots of fun sliding through those turns though - can't wait to go again.

I'm probably not going to go next week...but who knows.

http://www.scca-milwaukee.org/Solo/2003/03scca8class.pdf Results from Sunday. I'm so not used to the EVO yet. I think I would have taken 4th or 5th on index if I would have had the Mazda. The course was pretty much set up for a rear drive car. The last third of the course was a lot better for a fwd car. I think I made up a lot of time there. It'd be cool if we could get a lot of MSP and P5 guys at the next event. Like I said before the rules that the Madison club use are completely different. www.madisonautocross.com has the Midwest Council rules listed on their site. -Erik

Erik

Would I be considered "E" class for the Madison Autocross Club?

I should be able to go the on the 12th.

We should start a list of people that are going.

1. Smithers_0990 (Bryan Smith)
2. ...

Thanks

i'll be there. probably won't be able to run (unless i pay the $10 late entry fee) because sunday is my only day to sleep. a 6 day work week sucks ass.

Yup you'd be in E. Then you add up your points for what you've done to your car and determine whether you're in Sock, Prepared or Modified. After a whole lot of points you get bumped to a race catagory. Your cold air intake counts as one point. You can have up to 2 points and be in stock. The actual car classing is based on Midwest Council high speed autocross. Thats why for low speed SOLO II stuff some of the classing doesn't match up. A bunch of us in the Madison club are throwing ideas around on how to fix that. The MSP is listed yet, along with many more newer cars. I've been running in B Stock for Midwest Council events in the MSP. -Erik
