Millenia supercharger quick fix

Mazda Millenia
my 1999 millenia was smoking bad on startup and lots when accelerating, i removed the front intercooler and oil dripped out, nice car but not worth spending lots on it, so I had a idea.
I remove the supercharger, blocked the oil ways (in and out) , then packed the bearings with high proformance grease, put it all back together and ran it hard to clear the oil, now there is no smoke on startup and none when running, i have done 2000 km and charger is still running nice and quiet and NO SMOKE.

This is a neat idea. I was watching a video of someone working on a GM supercharger which was just filled with gear oil and I was wondering why Mazda cooed theirs with engine oil. Did you have to replace anything else? e.g. cats, o2 sensors.

Having Filtered oil that is changed frequently is technically better and easier to maintain... You need only do regular oil changes..

the gear oil in my Eaton supercharger is good for 100k km.. not sure how often you would really need to change it.

So every 3 years if it was my car and im sure others would often over look that detail much like brake fluid and power steering. Oil cooled makes it one less thing to worry about as its apart of your routine maintance with anycar.

exactly most people would not think to change it like other fluids on the car. That's why i change all the fluids in my car every winter for my piece of mind, even if i only drive 35k km a summer on average. My SC has not even been turned over yet this year and it has new oil in it, for under $20 why not change it.

So,
1: since eaton uses unfiltered/unpresurised gear oil and does not have a problem there should be no problem closing off the iol cooling system on the Millenia superchaarger and filling it with gear oil.
2: Using Pressurised oil appears like it might be problematic, since it gives one more thing to try to push past the oil seal.
3: Either this is a Canadian web site or the Milllenia was universally more popular in Canada.

the oil feed in the super charger on the Mazdas is end of line and just dumps into the sump so there is no pressure there to force through the seals, the charger itself sucks the oil through the seals, that is way I used grease, the grease is sucked through at a slower rate, I will have to add grease points at each bearing.
as far as I can see the oil dosn't cool the charger so there is no problems there.

Hey, just wondering how your car is going after your fix? I've got a 2000 Millenia I have had since 9000km and now at 128,000km it's doing the same thing yours was. Oil is getting in the super charger and blue smoke on start up. I'm now trying to convince my mechanic to do the same thing you have done but he has many questions, ie how yo put the grease in on each bearing etc. Let me know if you have any insight on performing this operation. It a great car and it drives like it was new. Smokey but new. Thanks.

Hi i have a 1997 S with the same problem. How difficult was the repair? Is there a guide for tear down or did you just wing it?

My 99 millenia s supercharger is squeaking really bad and my car is running rough. And idea of what the problem could be?
