I was raised on whole (Wisconsin), switched to 2 percent after I became an intelligent adult (I won't say exactly when that happened), but now it's been skim for many years. It's just takes a couple gallons to get used to. Now when we take the kids to go visit the grandparents, the whole milk up there is like thick and nasty, even for the kids.
Then you compare my active, in shape kids to their Wisconsin cousins, and they're overweight, can't put anything in their mouths that isn't dripping with cheese and have been fed soda since birth. My son was 10 before he had more than one soda a month. Of course they still have long hair up there too. Wisconsin always seems to be about 30 years back in time. But at least it gives bands like Kiss a place to play yet. And they talk funny.
