So there is a guy that is selling a 1989 Mazda 626 with the 2.2 turbo 5speed, the car runs has new tires and some exhaust work. It needs inspected was not inspected since 06. Also there is a 2" hole in the rocker panel. The kicker is he only wants 150 bucks for it. This would be perfect for me since im car less atm. Just wondering if anybody could give me some info about this car or links to some sites that will give me some info.

Thanks.

yeah, mazda626.net isnt the most informative and or/active site.
What kind of information are you looking for?

I know the tech guy in import tuner made a comment about it. He said the car was fast for what it was and that he used to crush all the other cars that he would race during the time. He had me wanting to buy one. Great sleeper.

Do a search, n00b, LOL!

there is nothing on there, and where are my dam 12k bulbs haha

ya it does seem like it could be a nice lil sleeper, 145hp and 190tq, cant believe the tq lol.

Check out www.mx6.com

The 626 shares the same turbo engine as the 1st gen mx6, I use to have a Turbo mx6 before I bought my Speed3. That site should have all the info you want to know.

mine blew a head gasket a couple weeks ago but it wasnt the cars fault. I had a coolant issue and overheated a couple times.

they are great cars, fantastic engines. if your engine blows then source a FE3 (FE DOHC) it is the best (if not one of the best) mazda 4 cylinder engines ever made and will fit into your 626gt. check out that mx6.com site especially the fe3 section. the stock sohc engine is great but wont get you past the low 13s high 12s with slicks in most cases as it cannot flow or rev anywhere near the fe3 dohc.

have fun with the 626. with only an intake, exhaust, intercooler and tune you will spank the vast majority of cars on the road in your $150 car. Also the vj-17 turbocharger that is found in MANY junkyards can be used to create a hybrid with the stock VJ-11 if you are looking for more top end. The VJ-11 is very small. (much smaller than T25 etc)

Really depends on what is wrong with the car and what it needs? The 2.2 F2T is a strong engine and with the right mods you can wax a lot of other cars from a roll or dig. Probinator sells a chip that will eliminate the factory boost cut. Parts are hard to come by at times but you can find what you need from other cars running the same engine. $150 sounds like a good deal but what does it need to make it a sound daily driver?

be sure to do a compression check before you buy it, If its low then I would pass on it personally unless your waiting to rebuild an engine in the near future. It would be awesome if it was 4ws too.

It's actually a VC32, the Warner-Ishi turbo from the 88 Ford Tbird and good luck finding one at the JY

OP, purchase this car and drive the piss out of it. It'll be the best 150 bucks you'll ever spend.

Some SOB beat me to the car by 10 minutes i was so pissed, i was just abou to getting ready to turn on the guys street and he called me and said he sold it.

Thanks for the info guys.
