Midwest Mazdafest 2010

You want to see a car show then go to Import Alliance in Nashville in July. I went last year and it was HUGE. Inside Speedway was full and the access road around the place too. This thread has been JACKED.

im going to ia this year!!

(hijack)

Import Alliance is a joke. Just a bunch of Honda Tech trend civics. Although typically a few nice imports show up.

We're going to Import Alliance, and what's funny is that it falls on our wedding anniversary, and it was the wife's idea. I LOVE my wife!!

Well Dane, guess Ima just invite myself to go too lol. And of course to all these meets im going to be pushing for my fellow villians to tag along,.!

We've got it good like that here in the 'Ville. My fiance told me we could plan one of our vacations to include catching a stage of a WRC event, also her idea. MrsParks and Lorena rock!

I'm in. Elias we can drive up together. Couple of screenames on there I recognize. It will be cool to meet them face-to-face.

Ok, now if you all meet us at Import Alliance, don't be upset when you see us getting out of one of the 'Ludes. We've got 'em, so we're gonna drive 'em. Just remember, we'll be celebrating our anniversary too, so be sure to congratulate us (gifts would be nice too, lol).

Don't hate. We love all of our cars. We have our his and her 626's (mine-'96, hers-'02), our 'Ludes (mine-'95, hers-'91) and my '03 S-10. Like I said, we have them, so we have to drive them sometime. The plan is to drive her 'Lude down there, because hopefully I'll have put a new engine in it (the one in it now has 294,000 miles on it). If not, We'll be driving mine. I had to drive mine to a meet when I first got it because we went to Nashville that morning to get it, and stopped to make the meet on the way home.

I mean, I hate to be a debbie downer about IA, but it really was like 80% crappy cookie cutter Civics. I'm just not a fan of most Hondas. However, it'd be nice if there was a bigger Mazda representation there. Two years ago there was one other Speed3, and maybe 3 RX-8s and a few FDs. Probably 10 Mazdas all in all.

Now, I can agree with you on that. There are alot of Civics that are out there being built. But at the same time, when I was growing up, the same could be said about Camaros (yep, I'm that old). But at the same time, I didn't hate them or any other Chevy's because of it.
IN the import world, it seems to be this thing that there are Civics and Integras, and then there's everything else (other Hondas, to include me and the wife's 'Ludes, fall into that catagory). There's not enough representation of other makes, especially Mazdas, which to me are the most under appreciated cars in the Import scene (unless of course, it's an RX-7). There's alot of imports with potential out there (you should see what I did with the '93 Toyota Paseo that I just sold when I got my 'Lude) and no one will try to do anything with them. Kids flock to Civics because they're cheap, and just like the Camaro's of old, engine swaps are easy. But then they think that they know every damn thing, and feel as if they're better than everyone else, making it bad for us Honda owners that are down to earth. Me, I'll put them in they're place quick, but everyone's not me. I like all cars, and I'm not about to be looked down upon just because I bought a Honda. I won't be compared to some kid who's dad bought his first car (a Civic), and then after a set of wheels, a e-bay air intake, and a clamped on muffler, feels that he's above everyone in his path. I actually like Civics when they're done right, but I hate some of the attitudes of the owners. This hobby has always been 90% attitude, and 10% your car. You're attitude can make the nicest car the ugliest thing at the show to me (same holds true for stuck-up women). I'll continue to enjoy my Mazda, my Honda, AND my S-10 equally (or whatever else I decide to buy in the future), and damn what anyone else has to say.

+1

Well said.

My isuzu was supposed to be like your paseo... however, I was young, and broke. lol

so I'll +1 this as well.

oh, and my boss is selling his civic to his daughter who just graduated... so I LOLed there.

Thanks guys. Here's some pics of what that Paseo looked like when I sold it. What's really funny is that the house where that Caprice is parked at in one of the pics is where it's at now.
