Memphis Belle 1300 vs. DLS A4 & A6

well, basically i'm debating between the 2 methods of amplification. i will be selling my vr1000d as soon as i am ready for this. it's been bugging me for quite a while now and i wanna have a final decision made. if all plans pan out the way they should, i should have some dls ultimate up 6.5" 2-way comps up front and some peerless 6.5" mids in the rear (or some dls full range 6.5" [arrhhh!! can't decide]). all will be in stock locations. i don't plan on kicks in the near future. i will be keeping my current 12" re hc for wang.

ok some specs on both systems:

Memphis Belle 1300
75 x 4 @ 4 ohm
1100 x 1 @1 ohm
18db x-over slope
40-6kHz range

DLS Ultimate A4
50 x 4 @ 4 ohm (rated... ha)

DLS Ultimate A6
1000 x 1 @ 1 ohm (rated... ha)

witchdoktor/danny has had to send his belle back a few times:( they have a decent turn around time, but it's still a hassle.

the DLS ultimate amps use the same heat sink as genesis amps, but i dunno about the circuit boards. the connections are different between the 2. the specs are a little different as well. but even if they are just genesis copies, it's not a bad thing, genesis amps are sweet;)

i'm assuming you recommend the dls...

i wouldn't have just spent $1340 to have a pair of A4's and an A6 shipped to me if i didn't think they were awesome amps;) unless you can find something like zapco or US amps for good prices, the DLS amps are very solid and you get a lot for your money.

i've only heard of a few other people having problems with the belle amp. no complaints on the mojo amp, though;)

My brother has the smaller belle in his car 55x4 & 400x1 and it is awsome. He has not had any problems with it.

yup, it's been to Memphis twice for making crazy sounds from one channel. crazy part is that it has done the same s*** on a few occassions since its last repair. if the amp wasn't such a b**** to get to (custom setup) and the distortion wasn't that bothersome I'd resend for a third time.

other than that it's a kick ass amp (second)

i sourced a place to get some spl dynamics, but it's gonna be like SUPER expensive... and can take MONTHS. i asked him about the 5 channel and he said it would be around 1.5-1.6k. i hate that euro exchange rate...

screw that, just get the belle;) if i'm going to look into huge amps like the ones i posted, i'm going to look towards US amps definitely, and a few others.

there were some killer prices on ebay on some new ones but I don't think they came with a warranty

well it looks like i may just end up getting the 2 dls amps. i might start with the A4 during the winter time. then my vr1000d will go up for sale... and the A6 will follow. then i'll get some ground control coilovers and i can FINALLY start my custom install. i've been waiting soooooo long to start this b****...

i just got my pair of A4's in today. sweet amps. i'll take some pics later. i'm glad i found them for less than the $639 that scott wanted for them. the pair for $900 shipped was a steal;)

damn dude, good deal.

i gotta swing by greg sound here in cali and check out their dls. greg himself was gonna give me a damn good deal on an A6. i wonder what he could do for me about an A4.

why did you get 2 A4s when you could have gotten 2 A3s? unless your gonna bi-amp 2 pairs of comps, the A3s would give you more power.

i wanna see some pics of those sexxxy amps too... post those when you get them.

one A4 will be for the mid-ranges and tweets, the other will be bridged for the mid-basses;) 2x250 for the mid-bass and 4x85 for the mid-ranges and tweets should be plenty of power;) a pair of A3's would have been less power than the pair of A4's in the configuration i wanted. i could have run the mid-bass on one and use the passives with the mid-range and tweeter off another, but i didn't want to use the passives at all. the A3 is only $100 less than the A4, and i'd need 3 of them if i were to ditch the passive x-overs.

i'll get some pics up tonight or tomorrow of the amps;)
