02 Mazda Protege P5
Bought 2002 P5 and it previous owner who screwed the pooch on bulb replacement and now the headlights are melted and will not seal properly.

I'm looking for replacement headlight assemblies that are blacked out. I have no idea where to search on line. While I'm at it I'm going to replace the rear with blackedout lights also.

Lookin for the P5 assemblies with the two bulbs (High & Low beams) not the single sadan type.

Thanx for any input and direction.

your best bet for blacking out the tails is just putting an overlay over them.

bluebatmobile.net has some options, and im currently working with andy from bluebat, for smoked tailight overlays w/ turn and reverse cutouts...

your best bet would be to try and find a totaled p5 and nab some lights off of it and then do the DIY and paint them black yourself. If not I think the canadian blacked out lights are in the neighborhood of $600..

If the housings are deformed from the back side why not just dremel it out so they seat properly then seal it up again? Sounds like a short weekend project and sure beats $150+.

thought about dremel. But they had the bulbs just held in there by the rubber boot. They were cocked and melted the housing and the inside of the portion of the housing lens is deformed/melted and a bunch of plastic flakes inside. I hay just buy a new set and black them out myself....

OK where can I get a set of P5 headlight, hopefully the will be in the area of $300-400 for the set.

And I saw that D I Y link and found this one also.

Just bought another protege. This time got a 2000 4dr. And it needs passenger side headlight and drivers side taillight. Got some issues with the mass airflow sensor. Man o Man

thought about doing that but headlight looks like a bomb went off in it. Nuke melt down. Inside crome melted so bad it is drooping down. Looks like an eye lid half closed. Buffing will not help this one.. LOL

LOL funny I'll take some pics of the headlight and post it tomorrow on the protege Nuke.

But I also got in my new headlights for my P5 today. Gonna shake and bake'em this weekend for the black out mod...

Got the set new off ebay for $250.00
