I've seen some nasty accidents there as well.... my friend and his brother almost killed each other when the brother went straight into one of the poles on the course after being cut off and my friend was right behind him... needless to say, going from 30 mph to 0 makes the back end of a kart come up, allowing for the cart right behind you to get underneath... my friend still has the shoes that have the hole from where the cart landed...

this is exactly what i did. the slight right after the hairpin on track 1 is where the pole sticks out half way. i went to pass and the person didnt see me coming on their right so when they tried to hug the corner i got mashed between their car and the wall, directly into the pole at full speed. and yes, the back of the kart did bounce up. i had a headache the rest of the night and i would do it all over again.

btw, i was pretty happy with myself considering i never did any racing before. my fastest lap was 16.6 which was the 4th fastest of the day. i also had the highest pro score of our group at the end. and i qualified good enough to get pole position for the final race.

Took my 14 y/o son to Top Kart Racing in Hull, Quebec (over the bridge from Ottawa) yesterday for his birthday. It is the second time I have taken him there and about the 6th or 7th time I have been there. It is also an indoor track with race karts with a top speed of about 80 km/h (50 MPH) on the front and back straights. We did a 39 lap enduro race for $30 CAN (about 1 hr of racing). It is f--kin' awesome. As great as our cars handle, I feel like I am driving a truck after I leave there, since the carts are so much more responsive and pointable.

Over the summer, I work at Mosport a few weekends a year as a race physician. They just finished building a shifter kart track on the premises this year. I'll be hitting those up whenever I get a chance next year as they are even better. Huge outdoor track over a mile long and manual karts which have a top speed of 160 kmh (100 MPH). Gotta love it!

Glad to hear that you all had so much fun.

100mph, ho-lee s***. these only went ~35mph (according to the instructor). but being that low to the ground on such a small track made it feel like 60mph

for $999 a person we can go up to MN and drive retired stock cars at 170mph if you guys want ;)
