Mazdasports Organizational Structure

I thought we should start this thread to get some kind of club structure going. Now that we are getting sponsored, it would probably be beneficial to develop some kind of leadership, not only for ourselves, but we would probably look better to the sponsor(s) as well.

<O:p></O:p>

Now I know that one of the better qualities of this club so far has been that we have kept things loose and friendly, and that isn't something that I think we want to loose. So, to get the discussion going, here are some options that I see now:<O:p</O:p

<O:p></O:p>

We could have a structured democracy. Club members vote for officers and it would be your typical president, vp, treasurer, etc. All club decisions would be handled by the officers and then presented to the rest of the group. Good organization, but might be less friendly.<O:p</O:p

<O:p></O:p>

Another option is a team type option. I see us as a team as well as a club. We could vote for captains or generals or leaders of some sort. I'd say two captains would be appropriate. Decide what two people you think would best lead this group. They would be point men/women for our club, but would come to the group as a whole to discuss decisions. They could in sort, decide on whether they want delegates to help if needed. I personally like this idea because I think that it keeps the floor open to discussion more between club members.<O:p</O:p

<O:p></O:p>

So, how about everyone post their suggestions of structure and who they would like to see in the leadership positions?

im certainly down for that. it'd be really good to keep things organized, even though we are pretty organized already, it'd be nice to have a set way of how to go about things.

i agree that "some" structure would be beneficial from a sponsorship standpoint but that it is not neccesary otherwise. the greatest attribute of mazdasports is that there is/are no "leaders" and that we all collectively make decisions for the group. i think that we can come up w/ a better structure for presenting ideas for group activities and policies but i don't feel that we would need a select number of members to successfully accomplish that. as far as future sponsorships go, maybe they will appreciate the uniqueness of us not having designated "leaders", as that may show them how close we are and therefore make it easier for them to make their decision. i think the first thing we need to do is to get everyone's name, user name, email address, phone #, and location, so that we can contact people to further discuss this and future plans.

I would agree that there has to be some designated organization to the club now that we are looking for sponsorship. One main reason, as stated in the other thread, is that once sponsorship is achieved, people will be crawling out of the woodwork to join. There has to be some club based decision on who is a member and who isn't. I would be in favor of a combination of both ideas mentioned above. Being that we span 2 cities (major ones anway) it would be beneficial to have two leaders, one in each city, to coordinate club related events. Haven't put a whole lot of thought into the other offices though.

My $.02, feel free to ignore it, as I am one of the newest members to the club. Or at least I used to be a member. Maybe I've been demoted now that were all fancy shmancy and stuff. j/k

i like the idea of having a general and an army. then we can pass out chocolates all day long!

on a serious note, i agree with jon. we need some sort of structure now to look more "professional" if for nothing else.

imma have to agree with michael, a designated " leader " for each city would be good. and i think we all already know who those " leaders " are.

.02 from the Honda guy....

From what I've seen in the group, everyone decides. Every major decision that I've seen this group make have come from a sugestion, and everyone put in there input on the idea. Even my membership in the club came from that.

Now with that being said it is also obvious that we have 'leaders' here on the forum that make the suggestions and work hard to get everything going. So to say what's probally already said, I think we should still run everything off of the group input but head up the group by the obvious leaders.

As a new member I can put in an unbiased opinion I hope. From what Ive read of the former posts all over the arizona section it seems that ideas for times/meets or any other organizational activities are presented and then as a group "banged out" in detail. So far I am impressed and I have no objection to conforming to a nazi society of protege wielding fiends.. off topic?

Summarized version - Good idea to have "Organizational Technical Advisors" in each city =)

Just to throw this out there with the new Tucson members...When is a good time that we can meet you (Ret0xafy) and blackdragon11? A photoshoot was talked about yesterday at lunch. Oh and by the way Truc and I spoke about having Wednesday's be a good day for all of us to grab lunch together. What do you guys (Tucson) think?

<-- "leader" for the Gilbert area lol but I think I like the word "chief" or "boss" better ahaha

Awsome, so far it seems like we like the group making decisions as a whole. sweet. I like that as well. So, lets think of it this way then. How about everyone suggest a "Point Man" for your city?

i suggest:

Bill for Phoenix Area - Why Bill? - Bill is the one who has been setting up the meets along with his wife christy. To me, Bill seems to be one of the more in charge guys and hes already taken the role as leader of the meets. So I dont see why he could not take the role as leader of the Phoenix area. Also, Bill is one of those guys who is nice to anyone no matter what. He's gotten a couple recruits and he is always looking for new members, he's shown us the best roads in AZ to drive on, I vote Bill for Phoenix area.

Truc for Tucson Area - Why Truc? - Truc is one of those guys that looks out for everyone, even people he doesnt even live by. He's always their when you need help with your car, or help with anything in general.
( a good example is Krystals donation fund. )
He's a great guy/friend, he's always got good idea's, he's organized, and everyone seems to like him, and hes asian. What more can you ask for. I vote Truc for Tucson.

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I agree with John on this. Bill has shown that he can rally the group together in an organized fashion. The three northern runs he and christy put together have ran smoothly with minimal issues.

Truc has shown great skills in the Tucson area of gathering members and welcoming new ones. He's organized group buys and discounts in mods that everyone was pleased with.

Looks like we all need to meet as a group soon and lay down all the rules & regulations.

EDIT: Brandon, anything new to report on Apex?
