Mazdaspeed6 vibrtating after 50 mph

Hey folks,

I have a serious concern. Here is my story:

I got my speed6 rear ended last month, the rear bumper needed to be replaced as well as some frame work needed to be done on the rear quarter panel. Note, one of the muffler's was damaged bad so it was removed and that side of the exhaust exit was sealed up (temporary). The work is done by the body shop. When I was driving it back home from the body shop I have noticed the car starts vibrating/shaking as soon as i go over 50 mph.

The only reasons i could think of why it might be acting like this are:

1) The car is choking before i sealed up one of the exhaust exits and when the turbo is kicking in it doesn't get anough air to breathe. Could that make the engine vibrate?

2) Since there was a frame damage, could that be the body shop who did the lousy job to pull it all strieght? Rear axle is not strieght? Could that be the cause?

Please help me out with this delema. Any feedback is very much appreciated.

Does the car shake more in any particular area? like is it coming from the engine or the rear or all over ? Seems as though an axle is bent or something alone those lines. If you got rear ended than there shouldn't be anything wrong with your engine / turbo getting air . . .

Thanks for your opinion coyfish. I can't say exactly where the shake is coming from I think the entire car is vibrating.

So just to eliminate the option, by sealing up one of the exhaust exits should not be causing it, right?

I don't know how could the rear axle shaft get bent so easily and the damage didn't look that bad at first. Ok, reinforcement bar was pushed in a bit. If assuming this is the case, how come the car drives just fine in speeds bellow 50 mph?

Koji,

Why did you have one of the exhaust exits sealed up? Should have left it opened. I don't think it's good for the engine, it might create a high air compression in the engine which will be a bigger problem.

My guess is the rear subframe is misaligned or itself bent from the impact and the rear diff/drive shaft are running a too steep an angle. Most body shops can measure and pull the bodywork into position close enough, but the rear drive system on the Speed6 is rather fragile and reacts badly to misalignments. Take it back to the shop and hopefully they're not idiots and can locate the problem. Otherwise, Good Luck!
