Mazdaspeed6 Clutch Fix TSB

Does anyone know how much it will cost for the parts if the dealer does deny it?

Uh....... I would have to find my paper somewhere........ but if I remember correctly for all the cost of the parts alone, and labor........ it would be somewhere in the $3,000-$4,000 range. (my paper listed all the cost of parts and then cost of labor, they basically have to drop out the entire bottom of the car, and AWD etc.)

Major Thanks!!!

If it wasn't for you guys I'd still be drivin my car completely oblivious to the fact that it was the clutch that was bad, not my driving abilities.

I've had my MS6 since January (06 with 5K at the time). I immediatley noticed the "grabby" clutch, but just attributed it to the performance nature of the car. So I just happen to google the other week out of bordem and, touch me twice, I found this thread. Checked everything with the VIN list that was posted and took it the dealership yesterday. They checked it out and ran it through a 'certification' to veify that it was the clutch and not the actual pedal.... and presto, i should have it back on Monday.

So thanks again.

++P.S. I've seen some other posts with people waiting 2 weeks+ for the repairs and my heart goes out ya. i've been without my baby for a day and miss her. The base model 3 sh*tbox they gave me for the weekend feels like a slap in the face!!!

Im also getting the 'hesitation' problem mentioned in other threads. Im gonna see how she feels with the new clutch and maybe take it back if it keeps up.

the hesitation has nothing to do with the clutch........ the warranty is 12k miles, so it's nice to know you got it done at 15k. Some people have gotten it with more than 15k miles.... it appears to be dealer discretion as to whether they want to perform the work or not... but some places will say no if you've over 12k and some won't.... maybe post the dealer you used for anyone else in Central FL to go to if they need to?

Yeah I actually know that, but ya definitely cant tell by the way thats typed. I just dont want the dealer to think I was trying to milk it, I read about the hesitation issue after I dropped the car off. The hesitation is kind of subtle so I couldn't really decide if it was a design quirk. I actually ran into a site that listed 5 TSB's for 06 & 07 MSP6's. Ill have to find it and post it. One for a fuel rail, one for a MAF sensor, one for a combo senor, (whatever the hell that is) one for the clutch & I cant remember other, but ill find out and repost.

For anyone that wants to know I'm getting the work done at:

CORY FAIRBANKS MAZDA
400 NORTH HIGHWAY 17-92
LONGWOOD, FL 32750
Phone: 407-339-4777

Oh.. Also, the dealer said my waranty was good to 5yrs (?) and 50,000 miles.

the fuel rail is only if the MIL light comes on and stays on.... I have that one, I tried to get it done, that's my best explanation for the hesitation, the high pressure fuel rail isn't working right...... the combo sensor I believe has something to do with the traction control/AWD...... because my car had the traction loss light pop up (where the car has the skid marks behind it icon) and stayed on even when I was parked.... and the service guy told me it was a combo something and his tech found a TSB for it.

Most cases are, TSBs aren't recalls, so it's the dealer's discretion to do whatever they want..... my service guy said he couldn't do the fuel rail recall until the MIL came out, but when it did he would jump right on it for me and made sure they did it (he's a cool guy).

Russel mazda in Clearwater did mine at 26k!(dance)

that's kinda pushing it bro.......... your overall warranty she be up by 50 or 60 k....... I know my 2006's warranty is supposed to be like 4 years/60k miles.

I have 4 more years but ends at 75k. Extended :) The clutch isnt too bad tho. Still as strong as the day I bought it. Only problem is when its cold and shifting to 2nd it makes a loud engagement. Shifting with the a/c on takes a lot of focus.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the extended warranties aren't exactly "factory" warranties, since it's a 3rd party that covers it. My GF has an extended to 100k miles on her '05 mazda6, and it's not the dealer warranty, it's a 3rd party company and they won't always cover s***, so I don't trust that. and when she needs something fixed under warranty, she has to pay a small deductible. Is yours the same? Cause I think it is, and if it is I'll bet that 3rd party company won't warranty the work for your clutch TSB :(

I know it covers the powertrain, suspension, steering, and some other things. I bought it at a Dodge dealership. But since then the company that owns that one just opened up a Mazda dealer which is a mazdaspeed dealer. Ill guess I will see how it goes when I hit 50k.

Best thing I can tell you is to take it in now and see if they will do, and bring a copy of the TSB for them to read, because sometimes they will try to play dumb and say they don't know about it, so bringing them a copy of the TSB can help for them to "read" and if they ask where you got it just say another friend with a speed6 emailed it to you ;)
