Mazdaspeed3 into Mp3?

NO

the "MZR" is an all ford motor and only the mazda versions have a different head and variable valve timing... and only mazda has the DISI turbo version also

the whole engine design is based off of the ZETEC engine that's been in use for a number of years... starting with the ZX2 and the focus... what was done was when ford went to mazda and told them to polish the turd, they went ahead and changed it to use a timing chain (but still with a lot of ford input because had they spent more money on it, it wouldn't have issues of going out of time if the motor was turned backwards), redesigned the heads, etc

the "MZR" is only a marketing name, just like the "DISI"... they are meaningless in the engineering side... there are different versions of the "MZR"... the ones used in the north american mazda3s are the "L" engines.... there's also the smaller 1.6l engines sold overseas and the 1.3 and 1.5 siblings used in other mazda cars... those smaller engines are the "Z" engines and they still have nothing in common with the Z engines used in the mazdas designed in the 90s, and they definately have nothing in common with the "L" engines or the ZETEC engine

don't EVER believe that garbage written on wikipedia about mazdas... half the s*** on there is wrong!

Which car does the KLZE engine come out of? What's so good about that engine that people have put in probes and MX6's?

Oops. Forgot... the "L" engines (1.8, 2.0 and 2.3) are quite different from the "Z" engines (1.6 below) mechanically... did note that when I was comparing the 2.0 Mazda3 to the 1.6... thanks for pointing that out.

The buzz about the lower displacement MZRs being Z based was around well before it came out on Wikipedia (and before everybody started copying that source). But the "L" engines being based off the Zetec? Haven't heard that one... anywhere!

Still a question of enough money or enough ghetto... hehehe.

You all see now why Edwin is TheMAN and you must pay attention.
Moses, Buddha, Confucius, Mohammed, Edwin, not necessarily in that order.

For you little hags that said you can't do it... anything is possible. What I want to do? Swap the complete Mazdaspeed 6 awd drivetrain into a protege... now that would be the s***.

nobody is disputing the fact that it can't be done
what you didn't get was the fact that the original poster asked if it would "bolt on"... and that's definately NO

let this thread die already!

yeah, my first question in this thread was if it was a bolt-on deal (complete powertrain and fuel system). then, when i got an answer to that question (no), i asked what might get the job done.

i think that if one were to find a wrecked 3 somewhere (which will probably happen in the near future), a swap of the complete powertrain (longblock, axles, tranny, hubs, brakes, fuel system, etc) would not be that difficult. i'm not talking about mixing and matching parts from motor to motor, or motor to tranny, or anything that would require separating the parts that count.

if i could pick up a front clip for less than 10k, it would be worth it to me.

and yes, this thread has gone on a little longer than i anticipated, but i think it's probably because this board moves so slowly. after you see it everyday for a week or two, you just have to make a post.

The swap is more difficult than you think. The 2.0-liter in there is cramped for space as it is.
