I currenty have a Mazdaspeed Protege I ran a 15.2 at 93mph I have heard that the owner before me ran a 13.9 but i have not seen any proof other than what people say. Anyways i owe about $7000 still on this car I pay about $240 a month for this car. I have been doing some thinkin do I want to investe more money in this car and make it "BADASS" or do i want to sell this car make and extra grand and buy a GSR Acura Integra and build it??? Im at a cross roads and cant decide. Ive done some researh and I have listed below what I would need to get for my car to make it what I want it or should I sell my car make an extra Grand off it buy a gsr integra for about $4000 and spend another $3000 on a turbo kit and maybe buy some rims NO BODYKITS...ive never owned a honda to be honest i never really wanted to but i hear they hold up really good and parts are cheap i dont know much about the Integras but i do my car I know what my car can handle and what I would need to do to it to make it what I want it... Which is alot... in the long run what would be the better choice???? what do you think... Thanks for any suggestions. and could i get the parts cheaper???? help i know this is a mazda fourm and I love my speed but its not really cutting it right now so please try to be opened minded and give a good honest opinon.

Everybody has a honda. don't be a sheep. Yes they are reliable cars and parts are cheep. But why not have something that is fun to drive?

honestly dude.. half of the parts pricing you're listing are way too expensive.. you can have a badass msp for way less.

on the other hand, GSR integras, or any honda for that matter, seem to respond well to boost. and a honda turbo kit doesn't cost 3000.00.. get it used, it's still good s***. you could have a honda turbo kit for like 500-1000.00

or just buy a turbocharged GSR..

either way, you won't have the rarity, or handling on a gsr as you do a msp.

yeah true...but since i have gotten the car its been nothing but problems and issues i still love it...but the damn car just pisses me off so bad sometimes.. i cant drive this car in the rain without it jerking or dying it only runs good if it 50-70 derees out its is very problematic but i still love it

best thing to do would be to read up on the honda forums about the GSR and exactly how well they respond to boost. there's a guy that used to work with me who has a GSR that he slapped a turbo on not too long ago, but i have no idea if the engine is built or not. i do have to say it looks pretty bad ass and i saw him cutting through traffic driving like an idiot...but that s*** hauled some ass.

do whatever makes you happy...i get a lot of s*** for driving a mazda and working at a honda dealership, but even so i have no desire to sell my msp unless i were to buy an ms3.

it just seems like for the money the gsr will be faster and more reliable im tired of being paraniod and always hearing pll Saying Zoom Zoom Boom

but don't you want to be able to walk in a parking lot and not worry about somebody having the same ride?

haha i live in a small redneck town in ky trust me its all mustangs camaros and trucks any sport compact/import is rare here

i'd never own another honda again... Not after 6 of my boys havin cars stolen/stripped, my own 95 accord stolen and stripped and definitely not when u know that ANY honda key will open/start ANY honda after a good jiggling. Plus having a Honda automatically gets u that "Label"

boost a gsr so I can beat you with my msp :p

I have pretty much everything on your list done and it doesn't cost anywhere near the almost 8k you have priced.

Sell the MSP and put all the money into an early 90s CRX. MSPs are expensive to build and break. Honda's are like legos, you can do whatever you want if you've got the right parts.

Brad, You will not get 8k out of your car. I'm not saying that its not worth a try its just that people have a hard time selling our cars to begin with. If I were you I would save up some money build it and put a larger turbo on it. Then you will be happy. I have heard many people say that just with the GT28rs the car was completely different and it was a whole different animal.

If your mechanical repair and installation skills aren't high, both cars will be slow and unreliable.
Most your used MSP and DC2 Integs are going to be higher mileage and ragged out.
Mod for mod the GSR will be better as it has a bigger aftermarket.
The main factor is still can you wrench and to the work on par to a professional level?
You can throw all the best and expensive parts but if the installer can't do it well it'll still run poorly.
Also, you can buy used parts for certain things, just you may not get everything that comes with a new part and it may be worn.
If you want to throw 8 grand at a car and get the faster one the DC2 GS-R would be the better choice.

I feel ya on that man, I live in Juneau, Alaska and we're fully equipped with highly-modded diesel trucks, and tons of American muscle. There is a lot of tuner/imports, but the ones that mess with you the most are the V8's and trucks of all kinds.

Gotta love it though - my measily 2.5 V6 keeps up with/beats diesel trucks, maybe not in the beginning, but i've got this thing called top end... something trucks know nothing about haha.

As for the GSR - one of my good friends currently owns a 2000 Integra GSR, with just about everything done to it including a massive turbo... he did all the work himself which is awesome, not to mention he works at a local Honda dealership - anyways he put it together piece by piece, all of the turbo parts including manifold and turbo and other small goodies were used, but the EWG, BOV, FPR and such were all name-brands and bought new, and the end result is a daily driven 300+hp GSR. It's the bee's-knees if you know what your doing, he's got the whole Hondata S300 setup, and is professionally tuned by another friend of mine in Phoenix - the bottom line is he can smoke an STi from a roll, and even beats my friend's Trailblazer SS w/ mods, so for being an everyday car... it's pretty sweet tits.(lick)

To me building this car was never about having the fastest car around, cause there's always someone faster. This car is more about the car/driver connection and the feeling you get driving it. Mine is a backroad only car, I don't DD it or anything, it stays in the garage until I want some fun, and for me it fulfills it's purpose.

I have driven a completely built n/a Prelude before and it just doesn't feel the same as driving a Mazda. It had more work done, and probably was pushing more power, but it just wasn't as fun. (dunno)

As spoken by true car enthusiast.

KnoxJoe I agree completely. The thrill of the msp isnt that you are the fastest, is how fun it is to drive. When I was getting my new tires installed today the guy said "WOW! a msp those things are fast as hell!" I said not really but damn if I wont take that corner faster than you!! The msp is a very fun go-cart! The gsr (used to have a 98 gsr) can be a whole lot faster but will loose if there is a turn to make. Not to mention there are 25,000 others with the same mods in the same state. I say msp all the way. But what do I know I'm still stock(lol)
