mazdaspeed shiftknob

I got it at home depot. It was heavy duty stuff, i probably have some lying around, pm me your addy, and i'll try and ship some to you tomorrow.

thanks a lot man! I appreciate your help. If thats what i got to do then thats what i'll do. I'll see if i can find it at the depot, if not i'll pm you and maybe i can buy it from you.
Thanks!

PS Oh yeah i will take pictures of the knob as it is right now so you guys see what im talking about.

google video is slow as hell. it says the video is now ready to b vewed but it still hasn't showed up yet. hey zoom, try out video.google.com later in the day and search for mazdaspeed. it should show up soon, if its of any help.

MP3 I noticed yours is the shorter sparco knob that came on the MSP's )3.5 and later, his is the taller one like i have and that might be why it doesn't fit the same way.

no mine is not the sparco one that came on the 03 mazdaspeeds. mine is the mazdaspeed that came on the 03.5's.

heh, thats what i was trying to say. YOURS is from later model MSP's the taller one, like the one he has, came on the 1st run of mazda speeds and said sparco across the top...

are you sure? i would have sworn h bought the 03.5 knob because he asked me before hand about the knob as far as its materials and color of the word "mazdaspeed". if he did get the sparco one, then my mistake. i've never played with one of those before.

Hmmm now i'm confused. At the top post on this page, he said the taller one... Maybe I'm wrong though, if he has the stubbier one then i don't know. My tubing fix should still help if it doesn't fit.
Be careful putting it on though because the leather around it can stretch and not fit anymore if you're not careful.

just some idea to find out why this doesn't work out....

you could put some grease/oil into the whole to make the metal non-sticking,fill the hole with resin, wait until it dries and gets hard and then screw it out.. then you have a counterpart which you could compare to your original shifter's thread...

besides that: resin might be a solution to fill up small gaps between the shifter's thread and the shiftknob's socket..

Hey Tstar! My wife's from Germany; she's there with my son in Kassel for 3 1/2 weeks. cool. um...*looks down shamefully* resume thread...

WOW!

you guys are awesome! Thanks for the help. ++++ repo for all of you

MP3Architect your viode is very helpful; thats the smae knob i have. After watching the video I think i know what the problem is; i'll have to wait until tomorrow to try it but i'll let you know. It seems that there is something not letting the knob go all the way down. I'll check it out.
By the wat, did you have this video sitting around?. or did you just do it to show me how!? that is very cool dude!

yeah i hope it works man, i wouldnt have sold it to you if there was something wrong with it, it worked fine for me..so i hope its alright

so after all of this talk about Knobs, am I reading this right?

The 2003.5 MAzdaspeed Knob fits the Mazda3. I'm assuming both sedan and hatch.

Because if that is so, and I do have any interest in the Mazdaspeed 3 ( Which I doubt I will because it's going to be a hatch), and it doesn't have a decent knob....guess what I am doing.

That sorry excuse of a shifter in the 3 is the one thing I had the most complaints about. The thing is about 6" too damn long. By putting the 03.5 on, is it much shorter? as in the height?

i just went outside real quick and took it. i figured showing you was easier than telling you. it was just a pain uploading the stupid thing since the forums wouldn't take the high meg vid file.
