Mazdaspeed seats???

those are actually generic knockoffs. nice knockoffs, and ones I want for my rx7. you'll need a seat install kit for our cars i think, or really good custom brackets.

they look nice and say they are universal fit? i know the stock seats out a MSP will fit onto the PR5. put some in mine back in Nov......

so these are knockoffs?..........so do you think the would fit without any other purchases....if so what would i need to purchase to have them fit...

*sigh* Must I repeat myself?

Why do people trust their lives to an offbrand seat from ebay just because it has a knockoff Mazdaspeed logo on it? It seems Matthew, Dexter and myself are the only people smart enought to realize a seat is a VITAL part of the car, especially in a wreck. I'm not about to put my life in some $200-300 bucket seat just because it looks cool.

You're a moron, in my opinion, if you do.

I would be highly concerned about safety in these seats. For $140 for two you have to wonder just how the quality is. I wouldn't want to risk it.

Edit: T3ase was thinking at the same time as me.

i need some education as to why these seats might be any better or worse over another or a generic pep boys racing seat? i'm lost here, honestly - what would you look for that determines quality and usability of a seat

t3ase makes a very good point...the seats look hot and is a really nice price...but ya do have to think of the safety factor

They definately aren't tested to withstand crashes as they don't have the stamp of approval. I forget the the letter acronom that denotes this saftely stamp, but I sure as hell wasn't going to get a broken back just to have mazdaspeed stiching.

i honestly didn't even know such a stamp existed

Its not an actual stamp obviously, but they do an american test and european test. Almost nothing passes the US test if I recall, but the european test is quite complete and all the major brands pass it.

Sorry, I realize this isn't make a ton of sense, I am wicked tired. I'll find the testing info tomorow.

so you are saying the US test has more rigid requirements?

w00t, simply w00t. so then what brands - if any - are ones that are acceptable and how does one go about checking this s***?

Aricjm15: some lady rearended his ford truck, pushed the bed into the cab
CaptainKRM: ok
Aricjm15: well the gussets in his seat, the part that makes the L bend you could say, bent to all ****
Aricjm15: causing some bad back injuries
CaptainKRM: oh damn
Aricjm15: if it had stayed together he would not have had all the problems he did
CaptainKRM: so how then do you know what is safe or not
Aricjm15: who knows
Aricjm15: put on in a civic and have the guy drive backwards as fast as he can into a brick wall
Aricjm15: and if it breaks, no good
