MazdaSpeed Rims on my p5!

I just got my MSP rims on 2 days ago. Still need to get center caps though.

There is a slightly noticeable decrease in acceleration, but it is a good tradeoff for the improved handling. Putting on P215/45R17 summer rubber vs. P195/50R16 all-season makes for higher overall grip and sharper turn-in, especially when at nine-tenths and at highway speeds.

Anybody have the Racing Beat springs with MSP wheels on their P5? How does that combo work out? Pics?

sexy! I want some msp rims too...I just can't really afford them right now. Anybody wanna give me theirs for free? I'll give you rep points if you do :D

Do the 215's stick out past the body work any?

Im tired of MSP Rims All the MSP's I see already have them (Not very original) They are sweet though, but there are soooooo many to choose from, Id prefer getting Rims I havnt seen on the same modle car as mine.

They look good anyways, and Anything is better then the Stock P5 Rims.

alright.. anyone know the calculations of miles? it's making me mad lol.. so i know we get more miles than the odoometer says. anyone know the ratio? like 1 mile on odometer = how many with our rims on? my mpg went to crap.

If you look on tirerack.com at your specific tire's specs, it will tell you the diameter. The stock tires are 23.7 in, and P215/45R17 should be around 24.65 in. This translates to going an extra 212 feet per mile shown on your odometer.

Your gas mileage shouldn't go down much. Running wider, heavier tires add marginally to rolling resistance, but the bigger wheels allow the engine to run slightly lower RPMs at a given speed. So if you ran a trip on your stockers at 70 mph and a trip on your MSPs with the speedo around 68 mph, your mpg should be the same becuase your actual speed is constant at 70 mph.

hmmm alright. haha must be bad driving habits or something because my mpg went down... hmmm i'll go try to figure it out or something.

Wana know a little secret kids? I've been roadtripping and carputing and gpsing and with 'speed wheel/tiresize swap, my speedo and odo are ACCURATE. my g/f's P5 compratively with 16's and stock rubber reads approx 2mph fast at 70ish. speedometers always err towards the safe side. the VERY SLIGHT increase is simply enough to get rid of that error....

Nowthen, this applies directly to my tires which are kumho's 215/40/17.Just like ppl shoes, diff rubber is actually different sized. some companies 45 sidewall is another's 40, it's a pretty good idea, but not a definate.

just realized thsi discussion was over 215/45's not 205/45's or 215/40's (theoretically close and both oversized for a p5, stock size on an msp) Not quite sure what a 215/45 would equate to.... seems like silly rubberness unless it saves the dollas.

I run 215/45-17, it's not silly rubberness... anything less is silly lack of rubberness ;)

I should know, I bent 3 rims when I had 205/40 tires on my last set of 17s

with the new set, no bends in a year

and yes it does cause a 4% underread on the speedo (and odo) so when my speedo reads 67 I am going 70
