Did a lot of searching on here. I'm trying to keeping my 4 year bumper to bumper warrenty. So for more HP (barely any :P) I put the drop in K&N Air Filter. But now I want the Mazdaspeed Exhaust I hear it can actually give you 3 HP @ the wheels. Everyone who's done it seems to do it themselves. Any Pointers?

I live in Austin where (mazdastuff.com) is so I can get it for 195 + tax :/.

1. Losen the rubber mounts with some dishwashing soap?

2. Just take out the bolts and put the new exaust in?

3. New exaust i assume uses the same rubber mounts.

Oh and when searching the forums found a great install link

you'll be lucky to see that much gain.

1) you can use dishwasher soap, although i believe wd40 is a little better.

2) yes. make sure you keep your gaskets so you can reuse them... cough NATEY cough.....

3) you are right.

Gaskets... I assume I find when I unbolt the stock exaust?

Oh and if you look at the link... He actually removed the rubber things....

In your opinion what is easier? Keep the rubber things on the car or remove them w/ old exhaust and reattach them to the new exhaust.

Oh and for those who have done it..... You don't even need to lift the car do you? I'm only 20 so i'm still flexible.

if you can fit under there then no, but if you can't then i recommend just a couple jack stands.

Hrmm. I don't know if it is really possible to get the muffler installed w/o lifting the tail of the car a little? Maybe park the car with the back end on a street edge with drop off. My personal note would be to keep the tip covered with the bubble wrap until you get it installed so when you bump/rub it on the floor it doesnt leave a mark. Very few tools needed. If I remember right it was 15mm bolts and the rubber stoppers. The kit comes with a new soft aluminum o-ring for the connection from muffler to cat-pipe. Remember to ensure to get the old one off too. I put mine on about 90 days after I bought the car so it was pretty hassle free and took less than an hour. It could be done quicker.

Compare differences?

I used two jack stands and they worked out perfectly fine. They only cost about 20 bucks at Wal-Mart and dishwashing soap works really well. The only thing is that I bought the wrong MS exhaust, now my tip sticks out about 3 inches.

i left the hangers on the car, and i didnt have any jack stands so i grabbed a couple bricks and backed my car onto them....that gave me lots of room....and hopefully your exhaust will come with a new gasket...mine did.....i took me about 20 mins to do..and i am a novice at best....good luck....i love mine

ITs realy easy to put it on. i used my dads old jack lol but jaked it up couldnt find my wd40 so i used a lil bit of grease lol. the hardesnt part i must say is gettin the rubber thingns off the exhaust but other than that its easy. i put mine up in like 20 min. ooh yea throw away that K&n and get an injen intake the Exhaust sound way better with injen intake.

But then they could say that that "voids" my powertrain warrenty or some bs.... or I would.

but I got it on with no problems w/o any jacks and I have an auto so around 65 mph is very loud almost to loud but this is my first time to have anything but a "stock" exhaust.

Got any pics??????

if you have the mazdaspeed exhaust, then the intake should be no problem. it doesn't get loud till about 3K rpms, and when it does, it's not annoying or drony like the mazdaspeed. it's a nice growl. imagine your engine stock at WOT hitting about 5K rpms. that's what an intake sounds like at about 3K rpms.

I have a couple pictures of the mazdaspeed exhasut installed on my PR5? If you wanted pictures of the intake you'll have to get somebody else to post them since I won;t do it b/c of the intake noise. 100 miles a day and the exhaust is almost too loud... All freeway driving so I run 80-85 mph constantly and the exhaust kind of drones into your skull... :)
