As some of you remember my original post I installed a MazdaSpeed exhaust about 6 months ago. I commented in the original post about having to have the 3 piece exhaust welded as the clamps provided still permitted exhaust leaks. Plus I felt the exhaust drones alot at 3000-3500 RPM.
Well after 6 months of ownership I must give the exhaust a thumbs down... For a few weeks now Ive been getting small backfires while decelerating/when I let off the gas. I put the car up in the air to check for leaks thinking that the welds I had done might have developed a leak. To my surprise and great disappointment the factory weld on the pipe coming out of the back of the muffler was cracked and leaking.
I tool the car to a local muffler shop and got the Mazdaspeed muffler section rewelded as well as had a resonator welded in to take care of the resonance issue. The exhaust now sounds like it should have from the factory. Aggressive but not obnoxous.....

Well I got some time today and was able to put my TGM3 up on a lift n take pics of the resonator and the reweld of the MS exhaust cracked muffler...

heres the exit side of the muffler where it had to be rewelded

Now the car sounds mean but not obnoxous....

Not sure who the mfg of the exhaust is but I am disappointed in their product to say the least....
