Mazdaspeed CAI Question

You really won't notice a difference in power with the CAI installed, but the CAI is important because it helps the engine actually breathe (The stock intake on these cars are terrible!!)

I will say thats not true at all. Before my friend sold his MS3 I beat him every time getting on the freeway and he was stock while all I had was the CAI.

Throttle response increases and you will feel more of a kick thats for sure.

Eh, could be driver ability. CAI will not give THAT big of a power increase that like "woah, s***."

Gru do you have a CAI? How could you not feel a difference in power with atleast an average of a 20 to 30 hp gain. You have no idea what your talking about.

I would tell you 100x over there is that "woah" factor after the install. It is felt to the wheels big time all around both low end and top end.

Its a given fact that this car is choked from the beginning, so it stands to reason that any increase in airflow potential will result in added power (not to mention, a better A/F ratio!)

Just gutting the airbox shows gains, so a true intake can certainly help. Turbo cars like to breathe, who knew?

Yes, I have the CAI. Yes, I do know what I'm talking about. Go dyno the car if you want I doubt you're getting 20-30 hp gains from an intake.

Clos, some people I tell you... I wonder...

You have a speed 3 with a CAI and your telling me that you didn't feel that nice kick. I think you are a liar. You don't have a speed 3. You must not have "show all sigs" checked. You would have known who you are talking to considering my MS3 will blow you away.

Uhm, Check my MS CAI before and after dyno thread here:

Results:
10.14% HP (24.2 HP)
10.28% Torque (24.8 ft-lbs)

A CAI DOES make a difference in this car.

Ok i went to the track yesterday for the first time with the CAI and i ran the same F**king times i was pissed I did like 6 passes and just wouldnt change. I Can feel a small power gain but may be resulting in wheel spin cuz i could not hook good at all i ran a 9.21 stock and 9.23 with CAI(bang)

after several weeks, the ecu remaps, so the gains from a CAI aren't as impressive as when you first put it on!

Man you gotta hate that. "You've got more power!" Next week, "Oh wait, ..I take that back, thank you very much!" - says your ECU.

Was there a rumor (substantiated or not) about Mazda having a reflash available for Mazdaspeed CAI and exhaust customers? I had my car reflashed (still stock mind you) during my first oil change, and the soot went down, the power went up. Might be interesting to know if Mazda has such an option for aftermarket power adders (even if its just for their own gear)

i read something about, but i don't think it was a new reflash for the cai.
