I have one on the way, but i was just wondering if you can convert the MS CAI into a short ram for wet/winter driving. Thanks!

You don't have to worry. The design of the ms CAI for the speed 3 is pretty safe.

You don't have to worry about anything. The filter is well guarded by the bumber and splash shield. The only thing you have to worry about is driving in deep water. other than that....have fun with the new intake when you get it...

yeah well i wouldnt really reccomend driving in deep water anyway! (i say this while i am in cali and it is monsoon-ing back east (eekdance) )

You may be able to make a temp short ram of it but, you will have nothing holding the wieght of the tube and filter or the fuel pump resistor then. So if you were motivated I'm sure it can be done.

dont worry

ive driven throught 12inches of water and checked it the way it is designed you would have to just sit in 1 to 2 feet of water and then after a while it might . I wouldnt worry abouit it mazda garentees it. what else do you want(headbang)

WOW 12 inches of water in a brand new speed 3. Not to bright if you ask me.

Craighjr where are you finding car parts for the speed 3. I just bought mine about a week ago and can find nothing on ebay. The parts on mazdaspeed are a rip. they are all way to expensive. I am looking for a turbo timer, and a boost regulator, and a bov. any ideas where to find the let me know

Im also interested in getting the ms cai, but I am limited on tools and help from man power. I just moved to jacksonville, just got my ms3, and used to do all my installs on my msp. Now that I moved its just me and my women, with limited tools to install. So how hard is it to install this cai. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys!!!

a screw driver, a couple good wrenches, 2 hours of your time, and that's it

Well, it's an easy install, but removing all the pieces of the stock intake can be very time-consuming. Some of the little tabs & thingies holding it on are hard to reach without extensions, especially if you have large hands. I have large hands, according to Craftsman glove sizing.

That was the only part that I found difficult, and only due to limited space. Just take your time, I'm sure you'll be OK.

There were some threads on these forums that really helped me out, let me see if I can find them again.

You really won't notice a difference in power with the CAI installed, but the CAI is important because it helps the engine actually breathe (The stock intake on these cars are terrible!!)
