Mazdaspeed 6 Pics from LA Auto Show

Sarcasm over the internet sucks... nobody gets it unless you point it out.

Sigh.

Congratulations.

I don't like the fact that they will weigh close to 3700 lbs. 0-60 times are barely under 7 seconds.

0-60 in 6.2 (vs. 7.1 in the V6 Mazda6). You can see the German design in this car (it was designed by Mazda's German engineers....in Germany). Kinda looks Audi-ish to me.

Aha! I stand QED.

How many more idiot posts do I have to make to compete with the current forum moron?

I wish I had a corner to go back to... Do you think I can borrow one of the corners in your closet? (wiggle)

J/K... it's been one of those days. I start class tomorrow (first grade YAY!) so maybe by then I will be thinking more clearerer.

And with that, the threadjack comes to an end.

I read 2 magazine articles today about the MS6. One said 6.2 the other said 5.5 for the 0-60 times.

i like how the exhaust tips are molded arround by the rear valance

just as I fear, since it's the same platform. The engine is mounted transversely. Oh well. Did you guy notice it's a top mounted IC?? I see no heat disspation route with that setup and the hood. It's going to be an air warmer (doesn't really matter for DSI though). This is all speculation of course since I'm only looking at the pics you provided. Can't wait for the New York one this year. Definitely going to check it out. Looks good, but I can see why that sucker weights a ton.

The hood iis said to be a special hood designed for the Top mount IC...fomr what Mazda website says.

If they were using the 2.3L engine its almost certian its transverse. Dont like the exhaust manifold in the back. And did I miss somethign? The turbo is hardly visable. That and the heavy 6 speed AWD tranny on top of a pretty heavy sedan to begin with. Definately a fun car but by no means was it ment to be very fast.

Very fast will be saved up for the Mazdaspeed 3.

My idea of very fast is 1/4 mile times in low 13s, 0-60 times preferably around the 5s mark or lower, with MSP handling. That's what Mazda needs to concentrate on (ie. something that is on par with the Evo and Sti).

The problem is when people see AWD 4 door they automatically assume it has to compete with a EVO or STi. Not takinginto consideration that those cars are in its own class.

STi and EVO are sports compact sedans

a Mazdaspeed 6 will be on par with a midsize sedan. Which means its most direct competators would be the subaru legacy, Audis, Volvo, Ford 500, TSX and etc.

Dont let the AWD fool you...its nowhere ment to be a STi or EVo competator.

When and if they decide to make a Mazdaspeed 3...with AWD then it will be a more direct match. even if the Mazdapseed 3 is FWD it will be competing with the SRT-4...which is rumored to be redesigned and share the same platform as the future evo...so who knows. MAzdaspeed 3 vs 2006 SRT-4/EVO...AWD? That would be a closer match. But other then the RX-7 there hasnt really been a Mazda car that was ment to have great straightline performance...non were ment to have impressive 1/4 mile times but decent/okay 0-60 times. Mazda has always focused on handling...look at www.mazdamotorsports.com and you wont see alot of parts for engines but for suspention, body and cooling.

That new Speed 6 only looks OK to me. Not very exciting. Ugly wheels. God the cobolt almost looks better with those 18's.
