The Sedan is wanted more as that poll which I started proves. The sedan has been ahead of the hatch since about a week after I put the poll up. It's not by much right now, but it has been in the past. Now, like I said, if Mazda was "smart" ( stop laughing) they'll release BOTH. Maybe one for 2005, and another for 2006.

That only shows the opinions of 200 people on this forum and it "proves" nothing more than 111 people would prefer a sedan. Big deal.

I've been watching that thread since it started. The sedan has never been ahead by much. A 10% margin of the opinions of 200 votes on a web-based message board is hardly convincing evidence to a car company.

Although there appears to be more sedan owners on this forum (according to the age poll). It would behoove Mazda to create a Mazdaspeed 3s 5 door. The car would be allowed to seperate itself from the rest of the "tuner-types" out there, as they did with the P5. As someone so bluntly put it, it would be cool to kick some ass in a 5 door.

Freudian slip. Hatches are better, so I misspoke and said hatch.

Still, the original point is that I hardly think that Mazda gives two s**** what 111 people on this message board think the next MazdaSpeed should be.

This isn't exactly the most diverse demographic available.

If anything, they would go by actual sales of each vehicle or by consumer surveys.

As has been said, getting spanked by a 5-door would be total pwnage.

ummm 240 hp awd would equal a EVO/STI... I'd take the EVO/STI over mazdaspeed 3.
1. I hate both mazda 3 coupe and hatch.
2. The evo/sti both have the racing heritage to back its 240 hp awd car.. and they been doing it since evo 3 or 4 and early 90's sti wrx. mazda has ever done a AWD car.
3. people say it will be released for 17000 pounds which = 32000 dollars same price as evo/sti
4. Mazdaspeed does not support mazda as well as Ralli art does with Mitsu or STI does with Suburu

the only thing mazda has on the other two is their younger age base for the buyers. and that i'm a big fun of not going with with the main stream... I like my Uniqueness

Correction, Mazda HAS done AWD, just not in the states. I would cry if the MS3 was AWD and 240 HP, because that would also mean it would be in the 25-30K price range, which is tooooo much for me Now FWD, a hatch, and 240 HP for 22ish (i.e. SRT stomper) would kick some maaaajor bootay.

Actually it would be just a little better than the WRX (227 hp), not the same as the EVO (280 hp soon) or STI (300 hp). I think the styling of the 3 is a little more desireable than the WRX (I used to own a WRX and now I have a 3). If they could make a 3 with the performance of the WRX and had to choose between the two I would have to take the 3. But hey, thats just me.

May I ask why you hate the Mazda 3? Just curious.

i hate the coupe most the back end looks weird high as hell backend with tiny lights... a lot of unused/flat space.

the hatch is not so bad but still not use to the it.. I like the P5 back end the best..

Thats cool. Cant say I agree with you but everyone is entitled to their opinion. I actually like the way it makes it appear to stand higher in the back when you look at it from the profile view.

ya i know a lot of people really like them personally i relaly like the vertically positioned lights... that is why i have a MSP

I like both of them but am glad I got my 3. Still wish I could take a MSP for a spin though, would like to see if I could feel the power and the handling difference.

you guys are forgetting the taxes that the Brits pay that would make it $32,000. If you take away their 19% sales tax and 22% import tax that they pay which is in that price, it comes down to more like $22K-$23K. Not bad. It is still an economy car on steriods, but for the price, power, and AWD, it would be worth it I think.

I will start writing to MNA right away to make sure they get to know I WANT A MAZDASPEED 3 AWD with 240 HP...!!! (naughty)

I think they can make it for around 23K, and that would be good. More than 24K would be a little too much.

Regarding the horsepower, I hope they use the 2.3 engine, because I very much doubt they'll get 240 HP out of the 2.0 motor.
