Mazdaspeed 3

I second whoever said to go RWD. When's the last time we got a compact RWD car under 20K eh? Don't know how weight balance is going to be though.

1998 Nissan 240SX

the 3 doesn't really have the "stance" so to speak of an RWD car, mazda would sell the cars better if they used AWD anyway since it's a buzzword atm

If not impossible...

...improbable. I would LOVE a RWD 3, but the engineering required to transform a FWD vehicle to a RWD vehicle is monumental. An AWD system will merely require a driveshaft back to a rear differential. To make a full RWD conversion, they would need to ditch the front transaxle and reengineer the entire front end.

No, not impossible, but improbable. The most radical change I have heard of in a factory tuner model it the Renault Clio Sport 24V V6. They actually changed it friom a front to mid-engined car. Although I respect the cajones to undertake such a project, the cost of the R&D does not justify it's production.

the clio sport is a fearsome car, most people don't realize it's uberness yet...I wish they would come to america

omg

TAKE IT BACK

if theres one thing i cant stand its the ******* CLIO races in GT3...omg.....

i win a ****** PINK clio after some monkeyfuck racing series, so i do the clio racing series. win that and what do i get?!?! A ******* PINK CLIO

omg.....

gayest...................garage...........................ever.

and then, i complete some ridiculous like 60 or 90 lap endurance race.......and theres 4 cars spining around......an INDY CAR!!! a ****** INDY CAR!!! and 2 le mans cars!!!!! and the car i got.......my 3rd spoon s2000......omg......mewfkj3n4l23@G$@

i cant even describe to you how long i just sat there staring at the screen in disbelief.

but i digress...

Mazda has to say there won't be any Mazdaspeed 3. They want you to buy a new 3 now, thinking there won't be a Mazdaspeed version and then buy a new Mazdaspeed version a year from now. This is exactly what they did to us MP3 owners.

So if they go with the AWD version, does that also mean we will get some kind of a Focus RS variant over here as well. They both share the same platform, don't they.

Personally, I think Mazda should bring an AWD version and get into the WRC with it.

The problem is that the next generation Focus for North America will not be based off the European Focus. So I would think there would not be a AWD RS here. The Volvo S40/V50 will have AWD as an option. I'm not even sure if the next gen US Focus will use the same plateform?

If the article bore true and Mazda dropped a 240 hp AWD MS3 on the market that had comparable handling to say even just the MSP's numbers they would finally be in the game for real. That would offer a lot of the tuning potential that many claim the MSP lacks.

God knows, if it does come through I'm gonna have to pay down the MSP faster than scheduled. Then learn from my mistakes this time and wait till late in the model year when the dealer rebates start dropping the price. Then drive my Del Sol into the dealership get what I can out of it, get the price as low as I can on the MS3 and then drop another $6K down on top of it.

Hopefully, by that point the wife will have gotten herself the MSM or RX-8 that she wants. Ah, that'd make for a nice garage.

Yep, My Wife wants an RX8 as well. So it would be PR-5, MSP, and RX8.
Our new house will have 3 bays :D The PR5 will go to my middle daughter.

Sounds like a happy household to me. Funny how many women I know love the RX-8 but don't care much for the RX-7's. Especially when you look at the fact that the RX-7 was much more curvy and sexy, while the RX-8 is more angled and aggressive looking. Mabey it's because Britney drove one. lol. J/K

id take a rx-7 over a rx-8 anyday. it looks way better then the rx-8, and its faster/more upgradable.

Ah yeah, I'm sure that's what my wife is after.

:p :D :p

For a true four seater sports car the RX8 is a good choice. We have 3 kids one of which will be driving next month, one who is almost 3, and one 11 yr old. So she will have one in the front and one in the back in a booster seat, an RX7 wouldn't cut it.

The word is that the next gen Focus in the US will use the current platform but the 2.3 liter motor from the Mazda3.

The next gen eruo-Focus will be on the Mazda3/S40 chassis.

Why? I have no idea, but it seems kind of screwy to me.(scratch) (screwy)

I love GT3

Off-topic or not, that was funny as hell.

My sad GT story was when I played GT2 to about 50% completion before my memory card decided to get amnesia. There went half of my freshman year of college. Mother....
