Mazdaspeed 3 T-shirt?

I like the idea, just not so overpowering. Tuck it under a little and let the outlet show because the wheels are turned to the left.

I'm a little torn about the "turbo wheel" myself. I didn't like it at all at first, but it kinda grew on me, but I'm still not sold on it. I also think that the #4 design works better with the MS3 facing away, so you see the rear hatch, where "hauling" would be mor readily implied. Might want to add some sort of motion indication to Craig's original draft (a little blurring, or some smoke around the front tires, etc.) but I like the basic layout.

If I recall, I think I sent Craig a link to this thread so he could monitor comments & such. If not, I'll be sure to send it along. I can sum things up for him, but it wouldn't take long for him to skim thru & get a feel for popular opinion, either.

Craig also wants us to start narrowing down shirt color. I did see a preference for neutral colors- grey/black. How about a charcoal grey shirt, since heather grey and black are just so freaking common? That'd also leave plenty of wiggle room for Craig to use black or white in the design.

Ok, so speak of the devil... Craig has indeed been poking in here to look at your comments. And he has tweaked the designs a bit. Switched to the well-known "Mazdaspeed" font, tried something different with the groceries in #4, and added wheel designs. (He had actually gone with the "hubless wheels" as a stylistic choice)

The refined designs are below. In order not to confuse them with the originals, let's call these 6 thru 10...

I like 8. - but there's no indication of it being a Speed3? The colored pods in the tail lights kind of break up the scheme IMHO. Also I noticed there wasn't a rear wiper or the reflectors on the side of the rear bumper. I'm assuming that was done on purpose?

My take on the updates:

#6
Looks absolutely great. Love the wheel design choice, and loving the MAZDASPEED text a lot. The only thing that bugs me is the large 3. I would like it better if the 3 was the same size and font as MAZDASPEED. But I could see why other people would like the larger 3.

#7
Looks great. I like the wheel style, but the dark wheels just seem out of place. I'd use the lighter wheels of #6 in this picture. Again, I like the MAZDASPEED text a lot better. Something I noticed that could be neat is to change the road shape to make a 3 then come to the car. It almost makes a 3 right now and it'd be a nice subtle design. It may not work in application, but something worth trying nonetheless.

#8
Love this one. The new grocerys work better in my opinion. I don't like the wheel style but I do like the accented calipers. Perhaps include this on all the drawings. I like the wheel style in the first two better.

#9
Again, I'm not a huge fan of the turbo wheel. I do however like the new text with the grey SPEED. Not really a fan of the wheel style in this one either. Honestly, I'd probably love this design the most if the turbo was replaced with the wheel style from #6, and if the 3 was the same size and text as MAZDASPEED.

#10
This one is just awesome. I love the "streak" lines that stem from the car and the faded ZOOM ZOOM in the background. Not a fan of the wheel style. Look like Miata wheels. And again, I'm sure you can see this comming, but I'd like to see the 3 the same size/text as MAZDASPEED.

Over all I like the wheel style of #6 the best. But I feel these new designs are a great improvement and I'd purchase any of these 5. I'm just really not feeling the turbo in place of the wheel.

I could use one

Bill and I are within ten miles of each other if that helps

I'd like to see the mazda emblem and a graphical reference to the turbo (hairdryer?) included in the design

(idhitit)
wow I saw the first page and responded without seeing all the other followups

LOVE THE CAR,,, like the all of the above bit. Hate the color (spin) BUT, black mica on black 50/50 not so good

mebbe have to go with a white Tee

This is good stuff!!!!!(band)

one small criticism, the donkey (ass) in #8 could easily be mistaken as a puppy

and could we add a 5th choice and put a , ahem, hot chick in slot C

I like 4 the most, but 3 & 5 arent bad. On 4 I'd like it better if it said mazdaspeed instead of turbo.

Yup. See that was addressed in the updates. Out of the originals, I like 4 and 5 the best (esp with the changes). 4 is cool and different, not too cheesy IMO. 5 is just simple, which I like.

On the updates, I still like 9 and 10, esp since 9 was updated as stated. The changes I do not like on the 10th pic are the wheels should either be stock or the rays. Also IMO the car is dropped and stretched too much to the point where it does not look realistic. I understand, some are more cartoony than others, but it almost looks like a concept car.

I do like some of the others, but just think they may be a little too much, like "look at me!".

I think it would be cool to see an image of the K04 somewhere on the shirt as well. The turbo is primarily what separates this car from the regular "3" so it would seem appropriate to have it incorporated into some kind of design. What do you guys think?

+1

I know I'm no artist, but I came up with a rough sketch as to the sort of Idea/theme I want to go for. I know it's a bad little 3 minute sketch, but it sort of conveys the idea I am after:

Great Idea !
to engineer a bit, enlarge the turbo, bend the road more left and down and move the logo to the top right. might make better use of the space.

OK, I spent some time gathering pics of MS3's from various angles & in various colors for Craig. Included several shots of K04 turbos. Also included mazdaspeed & Mazdaspeed3 logos as well as the classic Mazda logo that Karl Hungus posted. I also gave him Saskatchewan's idea in text & sketch format, described my "multiple choice" idea, and asked about incorporating the K04 into the design. And just asked him to have fun with it, since he's a creative guy. I told him no rush, since he's doing this as a side project at no charge, and I still need antoine's OK if we are to do a group buy thru these forums.

I also linked him to the Wild Child video.

I'll post up once Craig comes back with designs.

Oh, and I had this goofy idea to use the basic classic Mazda logo to make a "classic" MS3 logo. I am no digital artist, and I juts used MS Paint to do this in about 5 minutes as a rough mock-up, but is the idea worth fleshing out to completion?

It needs to be a bit more compact, the circles need to join cleanly, and the letters may look better if they don't intersect, but like I said, this was a 5-minute rough draft. Thoughts?

Edit: I tweaked it a bit more. I think I like the idea of one circle best, something more like this...

Again, comments/thoughts are appreciated. Unless your comment is just "you suck," in which case, I already knew that, so don't waste the keystrokes.
This might be a great "breast pocket" logo on any of these designs

I like Kain`s combo best, if the turbo/wheel was just a little more subdued.
I also agree with the idea of putting shoes on the ass to leave no doubt what it is. Although a hottie with a nice heart shaped bottom would work too. Problem with that is what about the ladies who drive an MS3?

my Take

#9 as a medium size front piece.

need to add mazda emblem to grill, mebbe turn the car a tad to bring the wing up a skosh Stock wheel in back, words in (shudder) red, "3" in silver

#8 big on the back,

5 choices(add the hotgirl)! stronger mule mebbe add horseshoes to rear feet so it is clear it is a mule. taillights need a tweak to GT levels(wink) need mazda emblem on hatch, need Stock wheels, exaggerate the exhaust a bit,

and mebbe, if artistically possible make it a white car on a black shirt as a second run if we get enough interest. otherwise sigh, red car on white shirt

AND, I want the logo in #6 as a chrome badge on the front of my car !! thats cool!

When they started driving the MS3, they lost the lady part and grew balls and ear to ear grins
