thats w/ the coil overs though, just slap on the exhaust and cai and ur there for only 1200
 
MS3^2. Should be as quick as EVO's and STI's on the highway.
I ran stock with an STI on the highway we stood side by side the whole way on the second run i let him charge his IC then he was able to pull on me enough for me to see flames shooting out from underneath of his car.
 
Guess I should have said spray his intercooler . a win is a win but he had to make special preparations just to pull on a stock speed3 i'd say thats pretty impressive . All the advantage is from a dig .

Same with me and my buddies STi, from a dig is no contest but from a roll really is satisfying. I tell him that with the ten grand I saved, I'm gonna buy a motorcycle and beat him from a dig and roll.

well i don't know about that lol. from a dig no way and probably not anywhere close in 1/4 mile. That said i was rolling with an Evo 8, Evo 9 and 3 sti's last night on a 80+ mile highway loop. from 5th gear, 70ish mph on the speed 3 is more than a match for those cars, right up to 140+. I walked away form a stock 07 WRX from 100mph and easily kept with the big boys. Only one guy in a new mustang was considerably faster than my car in triple digit land.
 
I find it interesting that the author totally disregards the amount of R&D that aftermarket guys do. His statement of buying parts from a catalog & home install = prescription for disaster is a load of crap. Maybe he should not write automobile articles. Car's have been modified for more horses since the beginning. And yes, alot is trial and error but by the time the part ends up in a catalog, they have been tested.

s*** man, where do you people live? All the MS3 owners have an STI/EVO/SRT story and I've YET to find a single in-my-class competitor to race. My one exception was coming onto the highway and two lanes over was an SRT Neon - we briefly toyed with each other and I nosed him out pretty easily, but then a mile later I had to get off so it was short-lived. I haven't been able to get /anybody/ to race me, really. I don't think anybody knows about the Speed3 out there in the 'general' world, they just see a hatchback. :(

'Course, then I pull a Mustang or a BMW and it's more greater. Hehe.

While I wouldn't go as far to say they are the best parts out there, I also wouldn't say they suck. Pricier, yes, but I'm very thankful that Mazda offeres SOMETHING In the form of aftermarket. Being a former VW guy, anything is better than nothing.

I got my CAI and exhaust for about $850 combined. Add my springs, short shifter, bushings, trans mount, and 3.25 TMIC and 18lb wheels and I'm still less than 30k.

I bet I'm a touch better in power than the car in the link.
