After shopping the Mazda 5 since it came out in the fall of 2005, (almost bought one back then), and following this forum since then, I finally decided it was time to get one, for number of reasons.
So, I picked up a 2010 Mazda 5 Sport w/auto trans and the popular equipment package the week before last from Kiefer Mazda in Eugene, OR., for what I feel was a very fair price (PM me for more info if you are interested).
All price quotes and negotiations were done over the internet with Sol Oxendine, the internet sales manager.
All phases of the deal were very straight-forward, no surprises or gotchas when I picked up the vehicle. In and out in 90 minutes. Even got a full tank of gas.
If you live in Oregon, in the Portland/Salem/Corvallis/Eugene/Roseburg/I-5 corridor, or over at the coast, and are shopping for a Mazda 5, you might want to drop an email to Sol, the internet sales manager. Just Google the dealership name, and look on the Company Info/Team web page to find his email address and phone number.
First mods were the 6 stubby antenna from the Dodge Journey for $6.50 (the stock one did not like my garage door when backing out), and some Yakima roof racks using the #11 landing pads and the regular control towers. Information on both of these items was covered in various posts on this forum, so many thanks to the pioneers over the last 4 years who figured this stuff out.
The next accessory will be a 3rd key FOB from some eBay seller, then get the new flip key cut at a local building supply store and then see if I can do the FOB programming (also covered in various posts, but there seems to be some confusion on how its done). I also got a plain key made by a local locksmith so I dont have to carry the FOB around while bicycle riding. It only opens the door, but the FOB will be stashed in the car.
So far I like the car very much, as it replaced a 1992 Dodge Colt Vista (AKA a Mitsubishi Expo LRV, an early 'mini-mini van), which I purchased new in 1992. There have been some posts on this forum comparing the 2 cars, and that is why I purchased the M5, as it is about as close to that type of car built today, but of course, being brand new, has more bells and whistles.
