Mazda5 can't connect to code reader

My 2013 Mazda5 won't connect to any of the 3 different code readers we tried. There doesn't appear to be any blown fuses. Any further suggestions would be appreciated.

My son-in-law works at National tire and battery and he tried both of the ones they had and then I stopped at AutoZone and had them try theirs so I have no idea what kind of device or software.

Hmmmmmm, They should work then. it's not like your trying some cheap connector etc. Might be time to take it to the stealership and see if there is an issue with the OBD2 port.

So check this out, if you bought it used, it is quite possible that sometime in the past, one of those Buy Here Pay Here shady car lots put a fake OBD-II connector on your car. Yes, the do they because they install interlocks that won't let the car start if you miss a car payment.

You'll have to dig around in there to see if that was done to you.

I am The second owner of the car and we were able to use the OBD to diagnose a problem with the transmission control module last year and get it fixed. So I'm not sure why it's not working now. Maybe a faulty wire or something else.

Could be as silly as a one or more of the car plug pins that isn't seated properly in the connector. (some pins would not stay in place). Mine had that issue and the OBD2 stopped working after pulling/plugging the dongle a few times.

I was able to fix it myself by swapping the connector plastic "shell" using something I salvaged in a scrap yard, but it's not a task for everyone if you're not confident playing with wiring under the dash.

When I got my 5 inspected this year, I just went through a whole ordeal because the mechanic's reader would not communicate with my car. It was extra weird because my bluetooth reader would work, and the shop's Snap On reader worked, but not the shop's Emissions reader. Also Emmisions read fine last year.

The mechanic theorized that one of the pins in my OBD port got pushed in and was not making a good connection. He ended up taking apart the dash in that area, pulled out the connector, and found that one of the wires had pushed out of the back of the port. He shoved it back in and then he was able to get a reading with the Emmisions OBD scanner. He recommended that I replace the port or try to re-pin that connection for next year, but I haven't attempted to do that yet.

I'm wondering if you have a similar issue where a wire came loose on the back of the connector?

I'll have my son-in-law check that out. Thank you so much for sharing. Mine will be due for inspection in October so I definitely have to have it checked before then.
