Mazda3 pricing?

My sister is in the market for a cheap new vehicle. Back in 2003 I picked up a fully loaded Protege5 for 17K. I can't seem to find any Mazda3s priced under that with an Automatic transmission. Do they exist? Her budget tops out at about 15K (not including tax). How much can she expect to take of the MSRP in today's market (assuming she buys in the next two weeks).

Also, do they still offer recent graduate incentives? I noticed some other manufacturers have it.

Why new instead of used? Warranty. She doesn't have extra money to fix stuff and she isn't exactly car savvy so she wants something that the car payment is going to be all she has to worry about (aside from oil changes and the usual maintenance).

Which package is she looking for (sport or touring)? Cheapest I have seen the sports with an auto is just shy of 18k and the touring is around 19.5k. We've been looking at them for a couple of months, off and on.

I forget where I saw the link (and didn't save it to my faves (notcool)) but the target price for a touring with an auto was 18.2k.

Also, would she entertain the idea of a lease? Mazda has a great incentive unitl 1/4/10 with the sign and drive event. No money out of pocket and a touring would probably be about $280mo including taxes. Just a suggestion.

look into the 3i's dude. those are better suited for around 15k. and better on gas. i have an auto 09 sport s and paid under 18k but had a 1500 rebate from mazda.

yes, new.

and no lease! That is like renting!

09 leftover? If not, let me know where I can get a 2010 3i touring for 15k with an auto.

True about the lease but some people like them so I thought I'd suggest it.

i'm talking about older models. yes 09's if they still have them at mazda dealerships, if not look into 08's, or 07's at other dealerships with low mileage. Im sure they have some type of warranty.

I talked my dealer down 2k from sticker on my speed3, she should be able to do 2k or better, especially if she goes for an '09 (assuming they're still around).

Yeah, looking for new or less than 10K miles. No lease. 2K off sticker seems like a good deal if they'd do that for a regular 3. Edmunds says invoice is about 1100-1200 below sticker...but even then I don't see getting below 16,000. The cheapest automatic I found near Baltimore is 17,805.

Her target is a $200/60month payment and she's got about 4,300 to put down. Mazda is offering 2.9% for 60 months. Kia and Hyundai, in addition to having cheaper prices and a longer warranty, are offering 0% and graduate discounts. I told her to look at both but can't find a Mazda that will touch their prices. If only she drove stick.

Her 1993 Camry was just totalled in an accident. She's got about a week or two. I don't think that will be enough time for Mazda to get the Mazda2 to showroom floors.

I think i got really lucky. I got my 2008.5 Mazda 2.3 HB Grand Touring for $16,000 with only 10.8k miles a couple months ago, but it is a manual.
