2014~2018 Mazda3 OEM Big Brake Upgrade

If the stock brakes couldn't lock up the wheels, why have an ABS system? Obviously, you need it on wet roads, but back before ABS, tires would lock up all the time on under hard braking on dry pavement, leading to longer stopping distances.

It doesn't lock up easily on dry roads at high speeds, which was my point. The stock brakes are good enough to lock up at 30mph or whatever else not freeway speeds, but once you go above 70mph, things are quite different between stock vs upgraded brakes

I don't think so. While the Project Mu pads and CX-5 brakes combo in my car feels similar to the GR Corolla's brakes, I have no empirical data to claim whether one is good as the other. However, these brakes now indeed make the car stop way harder and faster than the stock ones ever did. The better brake balance means the likelihood of the front brakes locking up is less due to lesser weight transfer. I've done very hard and short stops from 75+MPH many times already and never has the ABS kicked in, but the car knew it was stopping hard and kicked in the automatic gear downshift more sooner than it did before. I've done hard stops at 75+MPH on the stock brakes and never had the ABS kicked in but the distances were much further. It takes a lot to get the wheels to lock up with decent tires on these cars

Initial bite on the Project Mus are good, as advertised. It takes no time heating up, and they continue to bite very hard the more you stand on the brakes. Even feather light pedal touch on cold brakes stops better than stock did, because of the much more aggressive compound. There's some brake dust in the 500 miles of brake use but it's quite similar to stock. No noticeable dust build up on the brake parts during a recent tire rotation
I totally agree with you....as I replaced my stock pads at around ~800-900km when my car was new and I am assuming my ""brake in"" period should be done.....however, I still not feeling confident for my brakes and I was like to brake it a bit earlier than before (my last car was 2019 Mazda 3 with both front and rear Raybestro ETH pads as well - both rated was GH).

I did few urgent stops on the stock pads and that was another factor I would like to replace them ASAP due to lack of stopping power.

After I replaced both Raybestro PADs with some ~500km ""brake in"" period and I was so glad that it is doing much better with it.
