Mazda 3 (soon, hopefully)
which one should I get guys. Mazda3 GT sedan or GS with the power package and sport package. I know the GT offers exactly what the GS offers and more, but one thing that the GT doesn't have is the moonroof. I really love sunroof/moonroof's. Every car I have own has had a one and I just love having them open in the summer.

I know I can get the GFX package with the GT model, but I don't want to spend the extra money on GFX package. What do u guys think I should do?

I test drove a GT model tonight and it was great.

Please help me on my decision guys, thanks.

I got the GS with PP and PS because it's the only model comes with beige/tan interior... which looks very good IMHO. That extra 10HP is good but I rather have a nicer interior (and sunroof)...

First off, testdrive both engines. If either engine is fine then prioritize the features you want and the price you're willing to spend.

aI too bought the Mazda 3 GS with the convenience pkg and power pkg because frankly there was'nt really any difference between the two (GS or GT) models.

Both engines feel very strong with the larger 2.3L engine being smoother + more torquey. The 2.0L is also quite a jewel in smoothness compared to other engines. Major concerns for me was long term realiability and gas milage. My father in-law + close friend have also purchase 3's (both GT sport versions) and I can say the economy of the 2.0L blows them away. I'm getting about 600km when the gas light go on (48L fill up, still 7L in tank), so I'm guessing a full tank will run you about 680km. Their 2.3L is only getting a little over 500km. Seems to be the going figure in these forums. As for the balance shafts on the 2.3L the usual concern is of the power that is robbed from the engine and reliability if the engine is taken to the upper limits. I guess more part, more things to go wrong especially since the shafts are spinning so fast.

2.3L models also have better breaks, but is a little heavier than 2.0L models so there might not be any advantage there.

On two other small points the 2.0L sedan (16 Inch wheels without GFX) has mudguards whereas the hatches do not because of GFX pkg. You'll notice a lot of stone chips on sidesills because of this and on the same note the front grill of the 2.0L is more resistent to damage than the body coloured ones on the GT's.

It's up to you to really decide what you want, both model are very good just serve different needs.
As for performance you can look up full detail at http://ajac.ca
