Mazda3 dropped with intake and exhaust! PICS

I have an opinion and its about your ride. First of all you never cut your springs. its going to cause your car to bounce very hard over bumps as well as time goes by they will shrink and your going to have to get new springs. If you were smart you would have bought eibach springs that were made for lowering. I did the same thing to my old mustang by cutting the springs and I screwed up my car tremendously having to buy new springs. Give it some time and you will regret doing what you have just done. Second of all thats a nice looking intake but if you now your car the engine bay is a sucker for getting extremely hot so all your doing is actually hurting the performance of your car after its heated up to operating temperature. You will be sucking hot air into your intake causing poor performance. You should of just kept your original intake system since it actually does collect cold air from below the engine compartment. Short ram intakes or worthless. You should wait to get the cold air intakes to really see some gains. I am waiting to get my free intake from K@N since i let them use my car for testing. You may have the first intake but your not very smart for using it. Sorry man I know from experience of having several modded cars before this.

I don't agree with the cut springs either, but I have alot more common sense then to call someone a jackass for doing it.

Looks nice, little too low for the streets here. Powder coat those rims and make some sort of heat sheild for the intake.

You have your right to your own opinion... but one.. dont you think you would actually have to know something about cars to do all this yourself? 2.. if you were smart you would see that there is a ram air port in the front of the car for tha battery that air actually goes in, and by taking this off you are adding cooler air to the engine, hence less engine heat. 3 if the gains on this short ram were nothing I would have put the stock one back on. 4 you getting a cold air because they tested you car.. read the forums... everyone's car has been tested at one point or another.5. When the real AEM intake is actually out on the market.. I will get one. 6, My car doesnt bounce any more then any other lowered vehicle. If I wanted a baby drop I would go buy springs from Auto Exe, i'm not the type of guy to lower a car for nothing, it's lowered because is handles better the lower it is and I dont like lifted cars. And if you know from experience about modding cars.. (jerkit) you would have thought into blabbing about how stupid I am. And for the other guy who said cutting springs is ghetto.... It's only ghetto when they actually make springs for the car. I bought my car a week after it came out and they didnt have anything so I cut my springs. Most even cut job I have ever seen. anyways thanks to everyone for the compliments!!! (wiggle)

I've been waiting for this thread to blow up like the world trade. (gun)
IMO cut springs ride like poop. I see where your coming from with there not being any springs out for the car yet but I wouldnt have done it.(freak)

It honestly doesn't ride bad at all. I had some very high quality springs on my eclipse that I traded in for this car, and that road worse than this does. Trust me. i've had 10 cars since i was 16 and I am only 19, all of which had suspension upgrades.. this is the best ride out of any of my lowered cars. But like I said before. everyone is entitled to their opinion.

hahahha

im going to go cut my springs now. 6.5" drop. my handling be so tight i take the highway onramp at 120mph.

I take it back your not a dumbass but still why do that to a new Car.

Well for those of you who asked about why I did it first was the fact that I was in highschool didnt know much about cars then. Its called experimenting and learning the hard way of things. As you know most springs tend to shrink as the years go by. When you cut your springs your actually taking away the performance of the spring causing uneven driveability. You will know what I am talking about as time goes by. As for my mustang it drove nicely cruising around but as you drove over dips and bumps I bottomed out everytime because the weight of the car was too much for the springs since I cut half of them off. As for your short intake your still sucking hot air since it is in the engine compartment up top. Your getting both hot and cool when it is more effective when you have straight cold air from the bottom. If you know your heat it rises and cold lowers. I opened my hood the other day after I drove and it was very hot on the plastic cover. I guess with these engines heat is a strong issue. Anyways, I had to state a point be cause I know from experience.

im not saying it's a waste of money to buy springs. i would just never put springs on because it's not low enough for me. I will prbably end up buying coilovers for it plus the sways and strut braces, and everything suspension. I wont keep the cut springs on there for long. it was my temporary drop. and the drop was only around 2.5" but with the low profiles it added about .5 to .75" lower .

Word coilovers are the way to go if you want low. Unless you bag it but thats not my style. I want a car that is going to handle well and eat up twisties.

In the end NEPOC will pwn all.
Hey kyle we should cut the springs on your DX and then drive it in the woods. Up at my house.

just found a quick post on another forum about cutting springs

good read

on the intake
i did a lot of testing with RB with something pretty close on the orgional MP3 we lost about 5-8 HP due to the warmer air along with the MAF misreading the true amount of air.
with the Injen intake we saw intake temps within +-5 degrees of ambient air temp.

Just my 2

Tom

do what i did......make a heat shield/divider.....the intake tube is warm but filter side was cool to touch...I recomend getting enough for 2 cause I f-ed up and had to redo mine cause it was only 89% efficent against shielding heat...now it's like 92% in otherwards it's better than stock(hump) ...I am in the process of converting to cai...so I can utilize my 10 inch open top filter that won't fit the engine bay.

ALL THE NOISE! I think people are just jealous. IT LOOKS GOOD MAN. Do I see blue in the lights? Or is that my screen?

here is an idea...stay on topic!...nice ride vivid...he likes 'em in the weeds...nothing wrong with that!

I see the blue in the lights too. I wouldn't dare lower my car that much, but then, I'm kindof a pussy when it comes to my car....but hey, it looks arlight, and extreme, and you are happy with it. SO be proud. Just, make a heat shield, it will make you a much cooler intake temp.
